I just switched over to T-Mobile a few months ago, and am going from a 6S to a Xs. Do I take the old SIM card out of the old phone and place in the new one?

That’s what I’d do. Some carriers here in the U.K. insist on new sims to work better in new devices. Perhaps they are programmed to receive newer carrier updates.

That worked for me. I went from a 6s on T-mobile to an unlocked Xs Max.
