Hello all, long time lurker first time poster

Been offered a brand new macbook air (11 inch, 1.4c2d, 2gb mem, 64gb flash) for my Macbook Pro (13 inch, 2.26c2d, 2gb ddr3, 160gb hdd) which i purchased around October 2009.
So what i'm asking you experts is if this trade is worth doing? Am i going to notice any condsiderable changes in power? For use in the move i don't think the screen size will make much difference and if i work on it at home (which is rare) i mostly hook up another monitor anyway.
Its mainly for monetary value aswell, is this trade fair?

Thanks in advance

FYI: The *brand new* macbook air model you listed was $849 on eBay the other day. With a 10% coupon, most (including myself) were able to get it for $765 with $17-$34 in eBay bucks. So keep that in mind. I'm not saying they'll have a similar sale, but you should just know that this person probably got it for $700-$750.

Is it a fair trade? I would say yes, assuming you don't need the cd drive and would prefer a smaller and lighter mac. The value of the macbook air is most likely higher than your mbp. That said, many think the 11" Air is grossly overpriced.

Cheers for the response
The trade is actually with my brother and he wants a new laptop. He asked me for some recommendations and i said mac of course.
He hasn't actually bought the laptop yet, but he will qualify for a student discount.
In regards to the 11inch being way over priced, can you recommend a model which seems more bang for your buck? I'd have no problems in giving him my laptop + X amount of cash for the Air

Thanks

Most would recommend the 13" MacBook Air with the 1.86 Ghz/ 4 Mb RAM option and 128 GB hard drive. That seems to be the most "bang for your buck." However, you can get this for for even less than the 50$ off he would get with his student discount if you get it in the Apple refurb store. :D
