I've done a lot of research the last few days in relation to upgrading my GPU (from the ati radeon 5870) in my 2010 Mac Pro (6core). I've settled on this GTX770

along with a PCI splitter (6pin to 2 6/8pin) and DP to mDP adapter (to work on my 27" cinema display).
Before I purchase this stuff, I just want to confirm this setup will work (don't want to end up with a 400$ paperweight or spend more money on trying to get it setup properly if I need other things).
1) "600 watt or greater power supply with a minimum of 42 amps on the +12 volt rail." Still not entire sure what this means, as the card on EVGA's site says 230W required and I believe the 2010 MP supplies 250W? I have 2 dvd drives, 4 hdds, and memory; everything else is still factory when I bought it... I just don't want to risk frying anything because I forgot to factor something in.
I've seen lots of discussions about power/power strips, so I don't know if it could potentially be an issue... I'm currently using some old power strip plugged into the wall for both my mac pro, monitor, printer, and couple other oddities. But with discussions pertaining to specific strips with certain wattages/backups, I'm wondering if this could potentially be a problem.
2) Is this card going to fit without any weird modifications? ie, swap out the 5870 and plop this card in.
Thanks for any help![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
