Ok, so I've got a MBP 2.33gzh 15" 2gbram 160Gb@5400rpm coming in the next week or so. :D

So what are the first things I should do right after I press the on button?

How do I go about updating all things 'mac'? And does anyone think it's worth reinstalling OSX? Or using something like OnyX?

This'll be my first mac, so I'm not too familiar with OSX, but I am an experienced Windows user, so the switch won't be too much of a learning curve. I'll be using the MBP mainly for internet, music, movies, and Photoshop. I do quite a bit of digital photography and have a collection of images totalling 20,000+. I do have an external FireWire800 drive to store movies/photos. Also, for photo management, what would you recommend? Aperture? Or is iPhoto ok? I use photoshop alot, but it's not for organising libraries...

Any tips would be really appreciated!!

As far as organizing your pics goes, get aperture if you're really serious about being able to keep everything hyper-organized and being able to easily back up your library. I've had a slew of macs and I've never reinstalled the OS straight out of the box honestly...althought I'm sure there are proponents of doing so...

I just got my MBP today too! (2.16ghz)

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86284 (Calibrate your battery)

Some people say reinstalling the OS to delete the additional languages saves space (several GBs iirc).

Other than the battery calibration thing I don't think there's anything that important for you to do right now. Enjoy your switch and take a few days to acquaint yourself with OSX :)
