I need just a bit of clarification before I attempt this on my own..probably straight forward once I read up on the commands ...--

and analogy for me is "about:config" in firefox-

I simply want to get into applications via terminal find epic do a search on "search.yahoo" and remove ..

.none of the conventional methods will work- been messing with this for a few weeks now..
so, the good part is I will learn terminal...

it is embedded somewhere and may have come in with chrome browser somehow...it shows in settings on epic but will not allow edit delete remove etc/ manage search engines etc..-
I found it a few weeks back under something somewhere 0000001 or similar name- deleted that file and was ok but kept messing with it uninstall and reinstall and back to having epic browser with once again and unwanted and unwelcome "search.yahoo"-

Seems this should be easy enough.but wanted some approval before I hosed up something....
Thank you very much just need a comment on my approach-

terminal, applications ..search and delete

Honestly this was a slightly confusing read with the punctuation and such.

What conventional methods don't work?
What do you mean by an analogy being about:config?

I can tell you the syntax for commands that do the things you mention.
cd is the command for changing directory. So cd /Applications takes you to the Applications folder at the root of your drive.
mdfind is Apple's find system, which is also what Spotlight hooks into. It searches with meta-data included, but can be limited to only file names with the -name flag. By default it will search everywhere but you can also limit directory(and sub-directories) with the -onlyin flag.
rm removes a file. -r is required for recursive removal. Unlike deletion via Finder this does not put the item in the trash, it will immediately delete it.

thank you that is helpful..and nearly what I wanted terminal commands to find where to took what to look for and delete it...about:config is firefoxs tool to manipulate settings similar to as I remember m.s. reg edit...go to firefox url line "about:config" you will see...thanks again--

also no extensions etc for search.yahoo---

I am fully aware of about:config, I was just confused as to why you were bringing it up in the context of wanting to know about Terminal commands.

I'm really not sure what else I can give you other than the commands I listed, navigation, searching and deletion.

Have you tried running Malwarebytes? https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/
Asking about the command line is really not the right question for this problem.

yes on Malwarebytes, of course. sorry did the best I could- if I knew what I was doing I wouldn't need help.
