hey

how long does a router last?

i'm now on my 3rd belkin wireless router in 15months. i'm running
three macs on tiger, and a pc on xp. what seems to happen is that
you hook them up and they run ok. then gradually they start to lose
the internet connection until it becomes really frequent.

they go for weeks then it ends up losing the net every 20 minutes or so
as soon as you reboot the router the connection returns.

i'm on 10.4.4 - does anyone have similar experience?

have i stuck with belkin too long? are belkin c..p? why do thyey go
off line constantly?

regards

i have a Netgear (also with 3 macs and XP), and no problems with it, but (until they got it sorted) i did have similar issues a while back with my ISP dropping me off (which meant re-setting or re-booting the router to get it back online). Have you checked with your ISP to see if they've been having outages lately?

i have the netgear mr314 or 304.. i dont remember off the top of my head.. but its 3 or 4 years old.. two osx10.4.4 and win98 and winXP are all connected to the router. winXP is the only one that is hardwired. I rarely have connection issues.. sometimes I will get short outages where nothing will load, but that is for about a minute and never requires rebooting the router or modem..

No Problem with Belkin Router

I've been running a Belkin router for about 18 months. Dropped connections are infrequent (maybe once a month). My problem is with my 17" iMac G5 dropping the airport connection when I wake it from sleeping. This issue just started this week.:(

I've had a Belkin Router and 2 access points for about 2 years. The only dropped connections i've had were my fault.
