I posted this info in the iPod touch 4g cases thread, but I thought it deserved it's own listing, as I haven't seen anyone mention or review this one yet...

I just received the Belkin Grip Vue (Tint) directly from belkin.com. It's structurally exactly the same as the Grip Vue cases from Best Buy, without the extremely bright and obnoxious colors. The (Tint) is translucent, so you can see your iPod logo thru the back. But it's slightly frosted on the inside, so you get NO watermarking, the iPod slides in easily, and it makes the back look really nice. I got the black one, which is basically a really dark smoke color. Really subtle and nice case.

One very noticeable improvement over the Best Buy Grip Vues is that the volume buttons are way easier to press. I have been using my Best Buy Grip Vue for a week, and the buttons have broken in a little and have become easier. But the buttons on the Grip Vue (Tint) right out of the box are easier to press. Maybe the clearer material is just inherently a little bit softer.

The fit and finish is really good too and also slightly better than the Aqua Grip Vue I got from Best Buy.

As expected, the Grip Vue (Tint) slides very easily in and out of any pocket, including jeans. But provides some nice grip in your hand, as well as some cushion for drop protection.

It was $24 plus a dollar or two for tax. Free shipping. Arrived in about 3 days via UPS Ground. I've noticed that in the last few days they've bumped the price up to $24.99. Currently, they have Black, Clear, Purple and Lavendar. A third shade of purple, blue, and green are listed as "sold out".

I took these pictures with the webcam on my MacBook Pro, so they look pretty crappy. The case is much nicer in person, but you get the general idea here.

Great review man. I have the regular grip vue on my girlfriends iPod Touch 4G and even though the color is definitely obnoxious, it's a decent case for 25 bucks. I think I'll order her the Tint in black also and see how she likes it.

Thanks again.

Glad you found the overview useful. I really love the fact that the volume buttons are easier to manipulate. This was my biggest complaint about the Best Buy Grip Vue.

Same here, dude. It's my girlfriends iPod but of course I'm always trying to help her tweak settings and apps and that was also my biggest issue.

Ordered one for her shortly after I made my post.

Thanks for the review! I have a quick question for you. I have the Griffin reveal, which has a clear back on it. And the problem with it is the plastic gets horribly scratched up which inturn makes it look like the ipod is scratched. Does the tint version get/show scratches? Did your non tint one get scratches? How do they compare? Thanks for your time.

The Grip Vue Tint and regular, both seem about the same with scratches. I don't have any. I'm sure if I scraped it on something, I'd get one, but they don't seem to scratch easily. I used my regular Grip Vue for a week, and have no scratches on it, and I've had the Tint on for a few days now, and also no scratches.

Speaking of scratches though, one nice side effect of the Tint, is the frosted inside lets you see your Apple and iPod logo, but it hides any scratches you might have in the chrome back. I don't have a LOT of scratches in my chrome, but there's a few, but I can't see them thru the back.

So back to your original question, I can see how the Reveal would show and get scratches being hard plastic, but the Grip Vue is a softer material, but still tough, and doesn't scratch like that.

I gotta say. 9-10 days later and I'm still loving this case. Love the fit. Love the feel. Love the look. Love the protection. I'm absolutely done buying cases since I got the Grip Vue Tint.

I have a question. Is the back flat like the iPod touch or is it kind of rounded so it won't sit flat on a table.

I was just wondering because I am planning on getting this case but I just wanted to be informed.

Does the Belkin Grip Vue contain a screen protector or anything else for the front of the iPod? This is not clear from Belkin's web site. I have an iLuv case which I like but the screen protector would not stay on so I got one from Best Skins Ever. I'm not sure that one is going to stay on either because the plastic case tends to pry the screen protector loose at the edges.
