Recently Bell Mobility announced a plan to allow you to share your iPhone data plan for $10 a month which is much better than the 35$/5GB plan if you have the 6GB iPhone plan.

A few weeks ago I got excited about this and added this service to my iPad and was having a blast till this morning when it turns out that I no longer have a data plan.

Bell tells me it was a mistake that they allowed it to be added and took it off without contacting me about it. Apparently I would need to have put a $200 deposit to have an extra data line added to my iPad as my iPhone account is only setup for 1 line, and would also have to put an additional $200 deposit to prepay for the service. The $10 a month service.

Funny enough Bell Mobility won't man up and honor their mistake, or take into account that with my iphone included, I pay over $300 a month to have my two phones, TV, internet and home phone service.

Now I am stuck with no 3G unless I want to either be raped with paying too much for not enough data, or having to throw down $400 in deposits.

I'm really ticked off about this!

Bell mobility agent 73534 was good enough to add it, but agent 6825250 couldn't honor their service.

Not even to mention that my Satellite service is messed up and I can't get them to fix that either.

That doesn't sound right at all.

$400 deposit? No way.

Call back and talk to someone else. At worst you may have to threaten to pull all your services and speak to a retention agent. They should work out a deal with you.

If not, seriously pull all your services from them and switch to Rogers. Rogers will offer you a better deal to steal you away.

Plus, Rogers cable is better than Bell tv.

Unfortunately it is absolutely right.

They know you will pay it to use your Apple products, and assume you're going to ring up a huge bill on data and bail.

I was with Rogers and found it to be horrible. Every 3 months the cost of all your services go up.

Bell is usually pretty good until you need help.

They were going to charge me $75 to have someone come and test my Satellite receiver, and then if it was broken they would replace it, and I would still have to pay the $75. The kicker is that the receiver is a rental, but they said I can't bring it to a store and swap it out.

damn, i forget the link, but there's this one term of a law in Canada that states something along the lines that any mobile phone service offered (e.g. a plan, etc....) needs to be honoured. period.

i'm looking for the link, will post if i find it.

EDIT: nvm, it's the Rogers Terms of Service, so considering you're on Bell....you're probably out of luck unless they have a similar statement: http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-news/how-to-avoid-rogers-incoming-sms-charges/

Plus it needs to be a service offered on contract.

I thought AT&T was bad but then I looked at Rogers and all your other carriers with their 3 year contracts...like wtf. Three years is a damn long time it's been three years since the first iPhone and 3 years ago the ipad didn't even exsist.

yeah the contracts suck. You can upgrade your phone for small costs (usually like $50-150 depending on the phone) after about a year but you usually have to renew the 3 year contract again. They do honour your existing rates if they even if they are a better deal than what is currently being offered.

Problem is that Bell and Rogers have a monopoly over the system (I think all the other companies are just off shoots of these ie - fido and telus) so it keeps the competition down.

Just because it's a 3 year contract doesn't mean you have to wait 3 years before you get a new phone. You can upgrade every year and pay the new contract price with iphones, at least that has been their policy with the 3gs and the ip4.

I have spent all day going back and forth with a Bell executive, not really getting nowhere, and realizing it's going to end up being a pain to get my data back, but at least I will be less disgruntled if I get it, going to be at a higher price seeing that they want to have access to bill my credit card directly.

Basically, They are trying to negotiate to still ******* me, but do it gently with lube..

I wish we had an award for stupidest post of the day.

Yeah it might go to you, since mine was a legit suggestion. Most of our problems like that were fixed when we left that socialist nation. Now I can carry a gun everywhere I go, I can go to the doctor whenever I want, and if I so choose, I could get rid of AT&T, but I'm happy with their service on my iPhone and iPad.

Canada is a nightmare, and it's sad because it's a beautiful nation and I love visiting it. The government and companies like Bell and Rogers have ruined it. Unfortunately, our current administration here in the US is bringing us down the same road.

:D LOL!!

Good one.....so funny. Good Luck to you in life, you're going to need it.

Please don't come back to Canada ever. We don't need people like you here.
