The one thing that annoyed me about the Google app was that it launched Safari, then I had to launch it back up again to search.

Well, this little Easter Egg has fixed that and made it a lot more useable in my opinion.

Keep scrolling in the settings menu and you will find it.

Keep scrolling (sliding your thumb upwards) until it pops in. It look about 5-10 "bounces" for me.

The monkey sounds cracked me up.

Scroll to the bottom of the screen and then keep trying to scroll down past the end repeatedly. It bounces back each time, but do it again and again. The menu item finally appears. At least for me.

Thanks. Got it. I was initially trying to going back and forth between screens and hoping it would magically pop up. Pretty cool so far. All we need now is voice dialing and saving of maps and searches.

Until I saw your post, I hadn't thought about the otion to "Open Links in App," but setting that to On does indeed open them in Google instead of Safari, and you can return to the search from the loaded page. Thanks for posting that! Not sure when I would have found it myself. I've come to think of Easter Eggs as diversions. Not this one. At least if you don't include the monkey sounds.

After changing the setting for Open Links in App to on, it still opens safari if I click on anything (Gmail, Calender, Translate). Do I need to turn the iPod off and back on, sync it, or what?

For me it opens in a browser internal to the Google app. If you tap the back arrow at the bottom left of the screen, you are returned to the Google search page with the link that led you there in the first place. Or at least it does for me. I didn't do anything but set the switch.

You do still need to tap the Google link. It just switches to the internal browser instead of Safari.

you know after you say something it shows a waveform snapshot of what you said? Well, this will show the waveform at all time. It will change as it picks up sounds from the microphone. Not very useful if you ask me. But looks nice.

It opens links in the app, not other Google apps in the app. So when you do a search for something, it'll show search results, and then when you tap a search result, it'll open that web page in the app instead of in Safari.

What I mean is does Apple look at the code of an app before they approve it. If not I can see developers sneaking in unsupported things into their apps such as Firefox!

This isn't the only application that has its own built-in web browser. NetNewsWire does. There are probably others too that I don't know about or can't remember at the moment.

YouNote, iStorage, Folders, and iDownload all have internal browsers. I'm sorta getting suck of the iPhone's redundancy; why can't their just be one browser that does everything we want it to and one central file repository?
