At cpubenchmark.net, they show the 530 i3 with a score of 2728 and the m620 in the MBP with 2753. I know there is more to a computer's performance than benchmarks, but it sure is a big part of it.

I am really thinking about the iMac for the kids as a light gaming machine, maybe a little Steam, so that seems like a great value.

Thoughts?

iMac has i3 540. And yeah, it's as fast-- if not faster. i3 and i7 don't mean much, look at the clock rate and other features.
