benM tethering working on 3.1.2 yet?

So is the benM tethering hack working on 3.1.2 yet? I want to be sure before I download it. I kinda want MMS, but I want tethering more than I want MMS, and I dont want to jailbreak, because of the reduction in speed!

I have the 3G btw.

Any suggestion would help!
 
Jailbreaking doesn't reduce any speed. It just breaks the security at its lowest levels. Nothing "runs" in the background.

As many people have said, JB won't slow down. If you really want tethering then just JB and get tethering. That shouldn't slow down your 3G. As a matter of fact, i don't experience any slow down on my 3G and it's still pretty fast. It's a lot faster than 3G.
 
I've tethering on 3.1.2 on a JB 3g and haven't noticed any slowdown as such.

Though having said that my life seems to run in slow motion at the best of times so I wouldn't take that as particularly gospel.
 
Just wanted to ask a tethering related question without starting a thread..
I have a 3gs 3.1.2 on o2 network, I did the tethering hack yesterday, doesntw ork via blue tooth only usb..but the internet is agonisingly slow...is this normal?
 
Sorry for coming out as a newb(I am), but I imagine it connects via dial-up if its looking at the connection signal..
So what sort of speeds am I looking at? 56k ?
What would be normal?
I was testing it in the comfort of my own home with full signal and it was pretty slow..56k maybe
 
Ok its alot faster now...I was trying it with 3G off and on yesterday and it made no difference and I assumed 3G isnt in use..
But today I tried with just 3G on(not sure if it makes a difference again someone please enlighten me), and it seems quite fast..
weird how it was slow yesterday

Did a couple of speed tests, got downloads from 4-13 k/s with the same sort of upload
 
I have tried the sinful repo, the xsellize repo, the benm hack and ALL have "enabled" the option to turn tethering on, but when I do, it just says Tethering On and it DOESNT tether to my computer at all. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue?
 
For as long as I could remember with the native tethering, there was no setup, it was turn on tethering and my computer automatically connected. Im on a mac, what setup would you be speaking of?

hmmm...i remember i had to enable something in the network connection settings. ill have to go home and look. im at work. i have a mac as well.
 
You can re-enable tethering if you jailbreak and install one of the tethering hacks; otherwise you cannot. This is not going to change, since Apple now requires signatures on .ipcc files which can only be bypassed on jailbroken phones. Did you read what we said two months ago about jailbreaking not affecting performance?
 
The easiest way is to install the comm center patch, change it's permissions and then install the stealth.ipcc file floating around. All accomplished in less than 3 minutes.

Tethering just fine on a 3GS on AT&T.

Second this route. Works like a charm for the past 3+ months.

Yes, as has been said any number of times on this thread, there is not and probably will not be a way to enable tethering on a non-jailbroken iPhone. Apple has plugged that hole so that on a non-jailbroken phone only Apple can enable tethering now.
 
tethering stopped working...PLEASE HELP

Hi guys,

I´ve checked hundreds of threads and forums but I just can´t find the answer to my problem.
Tethergin was working like a charm with my 3GS on 3.1.2, I live in Colombia and due to coverage issues I have 2 different providers. Tethering was working great using benM generator. yesterday I siwtched sim cards and the enable tethering option has dissapeared. I tried downloading a new profile from benM, rebooting, resetting network connections...everything, but the tethering option is no longer available. However, I can see the profile installed but that´s it.
PLEASE GUYS HELP ME OUT. ANY BODY WITH THE SAME ISSUE?

What on earth were you thinking. Why would someone want to turn off 3g and go online? It's like using 56k while you can use a broadband. You need to make sure your phone is connected to 3g cause my iphone sometimes shows 3g but it's not connected. Turning on airplane mode and turning off should do the trick.
