1. Make jailbreaking/modding the OS more open and free, basically givings users a bit more control so we can go beyond an SDK that only makes apps, like things that actually INVOLVE the OS itself, except is lenient with jailbreaking so that it wouldn't even be bad and stuff anymore, much better.

The reason Apple hates jailbreaking is that all the apps on the App Store get distributed without anyone paying, so that's bad for Apple and developers. There's absolutely a 0% chance they ever allow jailbreaking.
I read last week that this rasoning is flawed basically because Apple has put ZERO effort at updating the app's DRM to prevent cracking.
Just like they did many times with music purchased from the itunes store.
Meanwhile, They've tried to stop jailbreaking in so many different ways that it just makes no sense.
I wish I could find now the post, it was real interesting.

I jailbreak for SBsettings, kirikae, QuickSMS and some other fancy features that the standard OS doesn't support.
Simply because jailbreaking has the ability to run cracked apps doesnt mean everyone uses it so.
You can download cracked apps for windows as well you know. People don't buy windows for this reason. (I don't know why they do buy it but thats besides the point

Lets be fair, most modding like themes ect only requires access to the actual images that the original OS uses anyway. If they had it so they had protected areas of the OS which you couldn't access via the SDK this would be far better than it already is.
Come on Apple think about it, Themes on the App Store/iTunes....pure win (and profit $.$)

I understand that not everyone does it for the free apps in the app store, but lots of people do.
Or at least stop patching up the firmware and basebands.

I've gotta say after playing around with an old 3g for a few days when my 3gs was broken, there is a significant difference with how the software runs. Its much slower and seems so choppy. If people stopped to see what you're saying, i don't think people would be getting so mad at you all the time for saying the same fact.

I know right! I've got 2.2.1 on here and it flies! It's so smooth. Nobody gets it.

theres a fix for this, you can forward certain email addresses to another so you only have one inbox.
I have my mobileme account which has my college email(gmail) and my other personal gmail account sending to it and it works flawlessly

I have to agree with Spaz on the speed thing though I own the 3GS my mother has the 3G and whenever I use it it's almost unbearable it's so slow and choppy.

regardless...if you dont have a 3gs the software is too choppy and too slow when you try the comparisons
There are only two things I can think of:
1) Create a Finder-style app or environment. Allow the iPhone to be used as a dad-burn flash drive like the iPod I bought three years ago. I want to store files like maybe a resume on my phone and then e-mail it or whatever.
2) Background apps/multitasking. I'm not saying EVERY app needs this, but Sometimes I'd like to keep TweetDeck on, and others I'd like to run the ESPN app to keep scores up or something. Maybe I'd also like to listen to streaming radio while using Safari or Mail. Make background tasks able to turn off, but I'd like it as an option.

I own a 3G and 3GS. Either you don't have a 3GS or you don't have an iPhone.
