Right now I have the following installed:
  • Ad Blocker
  • Weblock
  • AdGuard
  • Lockdown
But not sure which is the best or if there is one that is better than any of these. Just trying to thin out the apps I have.

Is 1Blocker it worth the money? I bought that old version but got annoyed when they moved to the new subscription version.

Since I paid for the old version I get the same features for free. Premium is only $4.99 per year which gets more frequent rule updates. Seems like reasonable pricing to me.

If you are getting lots of ads you may have malware on the iPad. You should run a virus scan.

well one or two ads on the page is probably not malware but lots of ads is probably malware.

Also is the OS up to date?

Most of the adblockers I looked into are junk as it is only for the browser safari.

Adguard Pro is one-time purchase while Premium is a subscription. I have both and the Premium seems to be getting more frequent updates, though this could be due to Apple policies which may have prevented Pro version updates. Pro can also block in-app ads using VPN which conflicted Apple policies.

Been using Ka-Block! for some time now. Prior to that have been switching between Norton Ad Blocker, BlockBear, Firefox Focus, and Adguard.

Try DNSForge, it block ads, trackers and malware at DNS level, they use pi-hole with several blocklists, they don't log DNS request, it supports DNSSEC, DNS over TLS and DNS over HTTPS and it's free:

Thank you for suggesting this! Ive been using AdBlock and Weblock for years as my Safari content blockers but DNSForge is the only way I’ve found to block in-app ads in iOS 14 (except for YouTube) and it’s FREE. Every paid ad blocker I’ve tried since iOS 14 dropped is trash and doesn’t block any in-app ads at all.

(An aside...it’s actually quite amazing how many apps in the AppStore are rip-offs of one kind or another. They either don’t work as advertised or the devs blatantly prioritize gouging customers on monthly subscriptions by charging a premium for a mediocre product. The most common scam by far tho is the bait and switch, where customers who bought a full-featured app for a “one time payment” are moved to a subscription model a few months later. It says a lot about Apple that they are basically ok with this. /rant)

Is there anyway to block YouTube ads yet in the YouTube app? They are getting annoying now. They used to be sometimes be 1 or 2 at the beginning. Now they are set to always be at least 2 before any video.

The YouTube app is annoying too, asking me everytime I launch it if I want to subscribe, for the 10th time today, no I dont!
