Best alternative Mouse for you imac?

Hi guys, just what the titles says, what mouse do you recommend as alternative for the imac? the magic mouse drains battery like hell and i dont like playing games with it haha :)


( ps. do the batteries of your guys mouse also dead very fast?:p )

I use the Logitech Performance MX for my iMac and MBP. The rechargeable battery lasts a long time in-between charges.
 
I use the Magic Trackpad for web browsing and other light stuff, but I use the Apple Wired Mouse for anything that requires precision like Final Cut Express and Gimp, but if you don't want to spend $40-$50 on a mouse, I hear Logitech makes good mice.
 
Literally ANYTHING that is not an Apple mouse is better than any Apple mouse. They do not know how to design a good mouse.
 
I use the Razer Deathadder for AutoCAD and games. I use to use a Logitech G7 but since switching to Mac, Mac is not compatible with the polling rate of the G7.

I then tried the the Razer Mamba because I wanted wireless but the driver support left alot to be desired so I exchanged it for the Deathadder . The Deathadder driver is solid plus it is half the price of the Mamba. Sure it is corded and I thought going back to a corded mouse would bother me but you don't even notice it, plus I don't have to worry about swapping batteries either. Sure, I hate the look of cords but when drafting, there is no compromise to precision.

i think the magic mouse is perfect for basic computer uses (web/email/chat etc) with the multi-touch gestures. but yea, for anything else like photo/video editing and games you need something else
 
Logitech V220. It's called a notebook mouse but they aren't quite as small as you'd think. And only takes one AA battery so it's nice and light. I hate pushing around a heavy two-battery mouse. I tried a ton of different ones, and i just find the V220 so feel perfectly comfortable.
The V220 is cheap too. I use them with every computer I use, Mac or PC.

I've tried the Apple Magic Mouse and I absolutely despise that thing. Too small, too heavy, weird tracking, moves around I'd you attempt to gesture on it. And you need to make sure your pointer finger is lifted in the air if you want to right click. Just a terrible product.
 
I would recommend the brand, Razer. They make fantastic mouses. You may be interested in the, Razer Mamba. You can use it as a wire or wireless mouse and comes with a dock. The Logitech Performance MX does not come with a dock anymore and I have to say I liked the Logitech MX Revolution (older one) in my opinion.

I would recommend Razer for mouses.

If your mouse has a battery drain issue (my iMac is still using the original batteries on the Magic Mouse and is 13 months old now - but then again I barely use it) then perhaps a wireless mouse isn't for you.

On my iMac I have the Magic Mouse (as I said I rarely use it) and a Microsoft Mouse (yes I said the M word - Get over it!) - specifically this one http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=008. It's cheap bulletproof and comfortable. I personally love it.

Razer Pro Solutions mouse. Matches a bit the colour of your iMac, good driver for the Mac and is really fast! Not designed for gaming, but does a hell of a job :) Outperforms every Logitech mouse out there.
 
As somebody else said: Any Mouse is better than Apple one...
I have about 15 mice (none Apple) & the best ones are Microsoft Explorer, Logitech (several) and steelseries pro gaming mouse.
 
the old microsoft arc mouse due to the arc shape it naturally feels comfortable
has 2 buttons on top and a scroll wheel and a button on the left side operated by the thump , and its foldable to switch it off , so ideal as laptopmouse too ,
i use it all day long from morning to late night 7 days a week and still the 2 aaa batteries last a good 4 month ,and i find that is acceptable , less would be frustrating at least that's my opinion , and the mouse warns you on screen of your mac and with a red led if the batteries need replacing soon which means about within 1- 2 week depending on usage after the first warning


and i have the white silver model , so it fits to my iMac core duo
(they did some more colors too like black silver )
and mine was cheaper then any apple Mouse too , bought it brandnew sealed box for half the price of a mighty mouse ! after over a year usage no complains

Yes, it _is_ "heavier", but after using it, you won't mind or notice.

It just _feels great_ beneath your hand.
 
I use an MX Revolution. I will continue to do so until Apple make a mouse that doesn't just look good but functions well. I didn't like the old mouse and I really don't like the Magic Mouse.
 
Is the Razer Mamba safe to buy now? I know that Razer themselves were going to release a dedicated firmware for OSX in the final quarter of 2010 so I kept holding off until then. Can anyone confirm this before I drop $129?
 
I really enjoy the magic mouse but yeah, the batteries never last. Anything Logitech and bluetooth is a good match.

It's a rechargeable battery that uses induction. Very cool if you're willing to drop $60 after shipping.
