Hello.

I have MacPro 4.1 2009. I flashed it to 5.1, then put Nvidia GT710 (because it have Metal), flashed to firmware to 144.0.0.0.0 and install MacOS 10.13 on NVME via 2$ aliexpress PCI-E NVME adapter.

Next I want:
  • buy RX 580 video card
  • reinstall MacOS 10.13 on 12.3 wia OpenCore Legacy Patcher
  • install second NVME wia PCI-E NVME adapter for natively boot Windows 10(I have plan to play Windows Game sometimes)
  • install 2.5 SATA SSD for natively boot Linux (I think it will be Manjaro Linux, maybe, it will be need me for my work in future).
I am really will be glade if I can run Windows and Linux OS not only natively, but also through VirtualBox (if i need some heavy software or game), but I don't know, can be it possible (I think Windows 10 licensed key should be different for natively and VirtualBox) . Also I thanked install Windows via OpticalDrive(Legacy mode), but I read that it maybe create issues for OpenCore(UEFI)

Also I don't know, does it mate position of 2.5 SATA SSD with Linux (1 or 4, or Mac OS will be launched forever first and I need Boot Launcher from OpenCore, or I can install rEFInd on Linux drive, put it in 1 HDD section and choose boot os from Linux via rEFInd)

Today I not buy RX580 yet, so I can't install Monterey via OpenCore now. But I have free time and can install Linux via USB and Windows via optical drive, I don't know can I do it now or maybe I should wait and install OpenCore first (how it do in this youtube video) and then install Windows via USB (because I can't found DVD size ISO on official site, I can found it only in Internet)? I really scary situation, when UEFI mode can harm the firmware, I read about it for windows, but nothing found about Linux (also I planned disconnect all not needed ssd with other OS when will install next, so I don't thik, that in this case I need install OpenCore first, because I can't use OpecCore Boot Launcher, witch can prevent harm firmware). But can I than use VirtualBox?

Maybe anybody can provide instruction, give some advice for my purpose (MacPro with separate drive Linux, Windows natively and VirtualBox boot)? Thank You!

I want write about my steps and results (if somebody will be wanted repeat):

1) I bought and installed used SAPPHIRE Radeon 11265-05-20G Pulse RX 580 8GB GDDR5
2) I installed MacOS Monterey by using OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher on NVME (Samsun 980 PRO 1Tb, PCIe slot 2)
3) I installed Windows 10 by using OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher instruction with USB on NVME (Samsun 980 512gb, PCIe slot 3) + installed drivers for bluetooth (download by using brigadier BOOTCAMP 6.0 for other mac model, and chose this folder with drivers in Windows device menu (because windows can't found drivers in internet) + drivers for AMD RX 580 (p.s WIFI for BCM94360CD worked from box)
4) I installed Ubuntu 22.04 (Samsun 870 PRO 512gb, HDD slot 4) + drivers for WIFI (BCM94360CD)

Look like all works, but my GPU in furmark have temp more than 80 (83), so it loose FPS (throttling) from 71 to 55+ (or 62 with full fans speed), tested on Windows (on MacOS High Sierra furmark show 101 FPS and also loose FPS when temp was more than 80). I think, I should replace temperature past on my GPU and all will be fine.

Hi Does your wifi work on OCLP?

I'm having wifi issues, it won't connect to any network, keeps looping.

Thanks

Yes. All works correct. But I don't have native wifi-card when bought my MacPro, so I bought Broadcom BCM94360CD on AliExpress. This card works fine on MacOS Monterey (OCLP), Windows 10 and Ubuntu 22.04 (with additional drivers for Broadcom)
