I use imedia player on ipad which has the option to transfer files over wifi from pc by entering a port address in web browser.

I use mx player in android which doesn't have that option(as far as i know). Can anyone suggest a good media player with functionality like mx player plus having the wifi transfer feature. I dont want to use wifi file transfer apps. I want a media player app which directly has option to transfer files over wifi.

It's android. Just use a file manager. ES file explorer is good. You don't need a media player to be a jack of all trades because everything can access the same file system. Use a file manager to transfer files and a media player to play them.

Sharing media by specifying an IP address, port # and credentials is the old school way.

Some media players still support it though like free VLC player which supports ftp, ftps, SFTP, smb and nfs.

These days people use upnp/dlna which is much simpler and automatic. It's even built into and enabled by default on recent Windows OS, Kodi/LibreELEC, etc. All you need is a upnp/dlna client to automatically discover the servers on your LAN and present the media. For Android, usually the best combination is BubbleUPnP combined with MX Player Pro with add-on codec from XDA forum. It's pretty powerful too as you can use your phone as a remote to play media from your Windows PC and render it to Chromecast and audio transcode on the fly.
