What is the best software or app to write and organize a textbook with multiple people.

I guess MS Word is one of them, but is Word really the best? everyone I know seems to be using it.
 
Word is not the best app to use when writing or organizing long documents. Scrivener is usually the choice of writers and students who need to write long documents (novels, long essays, dissertations, etc.) They have a trial version you can download and test it out.
