I've been using MyPlate (Originally LiveStrong) for years. I was a fan of when they charged to become a lifetime member for the original LiveStrong app, but I paid and then like a year later they came out with a newer MyPlate version, but that's neither here nor there. The great thing about the MyPlate app is they have a plethora of nutritional information. Just about every single dish out there is available. I've left restaurants and added the specific dish I just ate, such as Jack Daniel's TGI Friday's Chicken, but I dislike having to pay a subscription to have my macro's and micro nutritional content available to me.

I wanting to find something new.

Someone recommended the FitBit app. I told them I don't have a FitBit and they told me I don't need to have one and that the app itself alone does wonders. I'm not opposed to the idea, just have never used it. They recommend I purchase a FitBit Weight Scale since it automatically sends data to the app, and all I have to do in the app is add my daily nutritional meals.

Before I bite the bullet on an iOS weight scale, am wanting to ask the MR community what you think is the best app and course of action.

The “Lose it” app and the Withings Body+ smart scale. I use both and they are top notch. I like to keep detailed logs of my health and what I eat etc.

Im looking into it now and it seems that the Lost It isn't affiliated with the Withings Scale, but is supported. Im guessing you recommended them because its a good app on its own and its a reputable weight scale on its own and you just happen to use them together?

Are the premium features (in app purchases) regarding the Lost It app necessary?

The Withings scale looks cool. Am seeing the Body+ model on sale on Apple's website for $99. Amazon has a different Withins Scale for sale for $59 at the moment.

Yes, I recommend them both because each one works independently of the other. And at the same time, they compliment each other.

I bought the “Lose it” lifetime subscription for $99 last year. You don’t need to purchase a subscription, though. It is much better than Fitness Pal.

I've never used FitnessPal, but ill take your word for it on Lose It being a better app. Ive only had experience with MyPlate and perhaps many years ago it was a great app but looking into Lose It app and FitBit App it seems many apps can now do a good job tracking calories and overall nutrition. I guess ease of use is the name of the game.

I don't need an iOS scale, and honestly $99 for a scale is a bit higher priced than I was thinking, so if there's any other lower priced versions I may consider those.

Thank you for taking the time to write back.

I know im rehashing an old thread but am wondering how you've been doing since you last wrote to me here in regards to you tracking your daily nutrition.

Do you manually put in everything you eat after every meal, or perhaps at the end of the day before sleep? Or I've also seen some apps letting you scan a barcode and the nutritional data automatically is added to your app.

I input after every meal, whether manually or scanning. Otherwise, I might forget something.

Is your Withings scale 'Private' or does it report back to the company? Asking because many IOT/Bluetooth scales collect information and send it back to the manufacturer / seller for re-sell.

It is private.
Is it newer and how could you confirm ? Have been wanting to by a new scale but haven't been able to figure out how to confirm that its private. When you get a chance can you drop a model number? Thanks...
