I went out thinking bought the midnight blue leather 43 SS and it's on the way. I am handicapped and do a lot of work outs in the pool. Can't tell you how excited I am for a waterproof watch. Guess the sport band is the only band that I can take into the water without ruining it?

That's always the best band for water workouts or really any workout, but nylon bands would be fine. The expensive link and other Apple metal bands would work, but the sports are the way to go and so comfy.

I've seen people (yes, people I know and not merely forum members) take their classic buckle bands in the chloride pool. Black didn't seem to change color much, if at all. Others have said that the leather loop is similarly processed. Avoid the Modern Buckle for sure. My wife's Modern Buckle changed color upon exposure to water.

However, Apple is on the record calling the Sport band "water-resistant" and they have a disclaimer that steel and leather bands are not water resistant. I'd switch to the sport band for workouts in the pool to be on the safe side.

I swim a mile with my Watch 0 every week (and have since I got it last May). Neither the watch nor the black sports band has ever had an issue.

I'll still get a Watch 2 - if only to properly log swims. I've found that I've scratched the face and have rubbed the HR sensor blurry on my Watch 0 - so much so that I'll go stainless with the Watch 2.

Quite frankly I would just order one of the Chinese sport band knock offs from Amazon for 3 to 5 dollars, or on eBay. And use that while in the pool. I'm not sure the Apple bands would hold up very well too long time chlorine exposure

I would wear a woven nylon. The sport makes me a little nervous for vigorous swimming.

What ever you put into a swimming pool don't forget to wash it real good in fresh water after.

I asked at the Apple Store and they said the sport is the best. The woven nylon can be worn but will be wet for a long time.

Actually I have a question about this (sorry to use this thread) but will that harm the watch if you watch it because it will get into the holes, since it won't be on swim mode?

The swim mode only serves to lock the screen for the entirety of your swim. It does not automagically 'enhance' the water resistance. You can achieve the same expulsion of water via the control centre without starting a new workout.

Thanks - I didn't know that!

The back is now ceramic even in the aluminium versions.

I just saw this on the "comparison" post on 9to5 (https://9to5mac.com/2016/09/19/top-new-apple-watch-series-1-series-2-features-video/)

That's great news! I'll now probably stick with the aluminum Watch 2, as the only part of the watch that's really worn poorly for me was that back of the watch. It's kind of foggy and worn looking on my Watch 0, which is about a year and half old by now.

Do others with the Watch 0 aluminum have that same feedback? I work out pretty often, but not so much that my skin should cause that kind of wear on the back of the watch.

I have a SS AW0 with zero scratches on the ceramic; but after seeing a coworker's SG AW0 and the mild scratches on its back, I've got a couple guesses.

Make sure the back of the watch is clean before you put it on the puck, and make sure the puck itself is also clean and dust-free. I'll bet nickels to dimes that, unless you keep it in your pocket with your keys, it's dirt and dust which would be scratching it.

You should be able to make it shine again with anything meant for polishing plastic.

i have a series 0 aluminium that i wore consistently for the first 5/6 months, then left in a draw for 6 months, and have worn every night since (which means i havent worked out with it in around a year, so my use is much less heavy) but i don't have any obvious wear on the composite back at all.
