Hi all,

I’m considering getting a basic iPad for use around the home. I’m very comfortable with the used market and just want to get something that will get software support for at least a couple more years and that preferably costs less than $150-200 on the used market.

What older iPads are you all rocking, and what recommendations do you have?

Thank you!
Ben

iPad 8th gen or 9th gen.

Skip the 32GB storage model though. iPadOS has gotten bloated enough that almost 2/3 of that capacity will likely be used up by system+other.

Good to know; thank you both! If you were to stretch your budget a bit more, what would you get?

Mine’s kind of a huge stretch as I’d want to get M1/8GB RAM minimum so either 2021 iPad Pro or 2022 iPad Air 5th gen.

Not sure what the prices are like on the 2020 iPad Pro (A12Z/6GB) but those are decent, too.

I recommend the M1 iPad Pro 11 inch. ProMotion Display is worth it, even when shopping on a budget.
