Best Buy imac buying experiance

Hello everybody

I am looking for some advice. I have been looking for various sources to buy base 21.5 imac and settled on getting it at Best Buy as I have a credit card with them and they offer 18 month interest free financing.

I have a question for those who maybe bought it from Best Buy before or maybe know someone who did.

If my imac develops screen issues beyond 14 day return policy - can I return it to the apple store for exchange or do I have to bring it back to BestBuy for that. Having said that, will Best Buy give me a new computer, like apple store seems to do. I am just afraid that Best Buy will not be so helpful as Apple store is

I bought mine (older iMac) online and just took it into the Apple store for any problems since day 1. You should just take it into Apple.

Also, I have taken mine to an "authorized dealer", but had nothing but problems and delays. I am not going to take it anywhere but Apple in the future, if I can help it.

Sorry, didn't mention. Actually, neither. I bought it at macconnection.com With any issues, Apple will be more competent at dealing with it, so I'd say take it to them.

thanks Paul. I was wondering if apple store would be willing to exchange it for new system even though they never sold it to me.

Sorry for being annoying - I just want to make sure I am covered on returns, etc due to new imacs having some issues with screens, etc

If you are worried about dead/stuck pixels, Best Buy might hold you to something like...

"(2) Coverage: This Plan covers parts and labor costs to repair your product in the event your product fails to properly operate due to:........
(e) defective pixels for those products that have a pixel-based display. Pixel repair will be based upon three (3) defective pixels located in a group less than one half (1/2) square inch or five (5) defective pixels throughout the entire display area."

... but you still have their standard 14 day return/replacement policy.

thanks. Now that makes me nervous now because I would hate to have some screen issues and out of 14 days return and just be stuck with that computer.

My iMac had one pixel go dead within 2 months of purchase. Apple replaced it (the screen) with no problem. Although, I mistakenly took it to an authorized dealer and it took them almost 3 weeks to fix. All my repairs at Apple have taken 3 days or less.

And fwiw, i've had my iMac for over 3 years now. It's a 20" model and I still love it. I don't think you'll regret being "stuck" with the new 21.5". I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Best Buy will price match

I just arrived home from Best Buy where I purchased an iMac for $1,069...Best Buy price matched MacConnection. I also purchased a HP Officejet 6500 all in one printer price matched to Amazon, $139.50 before the $60 rebate for buying it with a computer; and iWork price matched at $65.99 before the Apple $30 rebate.

I also have a Best Buy Rewards credit card so I get an additional 4% back.

I had to pay sales tax, but the rewards helps offset that pain and I'm not worried about the California Franchise Tax Board coming after me

The iMac is the easiest computer I have ever set up ...it's beautiful

I bought my MacBook Pro at Best Buy right after the new SSD ones came out and Monday I bought the $1499 21.5 iMac since it was 100 bucks off. Both times there was an Apple Rep there and he said I could take it to the Apple Store for whatever that is worth. I hate paying the tax but with the rewards points and 100 bucks off I think it was worth it.

Hello I just got Imac 21.5 @ BB for 1099.99.
Cheapest place so far, they will match Black Friday deal from Apple store..
but I doubt Apple will give more than 100 dollars off...
plus you get 20 dollar reward points.

You can just take to Apple directly. You have 1 year standard warranty with apple. So I guess go ahead~!

Thanks everyone for your inputs to this question. I went to Best buy today, but their sale was over as of yesterday, so I asked if they would match apple.com and they did. So happy. Hopefully, no issues with this mac, but I did speak to Apple representative who was there and he said that Best Buy is just the seller. For any issues you just go to closest Apple store, unless you have Best Buy extended warranty, which I don't. I plan on getting AppleCare soon.
