I heard BB offers a minimum of $150 for an older iPad. Looking at the new iPad for a friend and wondering what results everyone is getting from their trade-in.

That's what my fiancé has but it's also a cellular version. He wants something faster so thought he would love the new iPad. He loves my iPad Pro so I thought he might like the new one since it's cheaper.
They quoted me less than $100 for a mini 2 and around the same for an Air 1. So should get $150 at least, for both. But I just sold the Air for $255 with some accessories.
Did this today. 32gig IPad Air wifi only. That and a $75 gift card we had already meant we walked out with the new iPad.
My wife will be using it. She wants something for around the house. Had been using an old galaxy tab so this was an awesome upgrade for her.

I work at Best Buy, we only offer the full $150 in store and it only works with iPads after the iPad 4 and Mini 1. At first the employees will quote a trade-in offer of less than $150 (but they just have to compete the trade in process, then you get $150 minimum.) Anything before the iPad generations I mentioned will not get that full amount. I traded in my Air 1 for $150 and got the newest iPad and it's awesome. It's what the original iPad Air 1 should have been.

On March 23rd prior to the release of the new iPad's my trade in price for a mint iPad 2 and iPad 3 were ($100/$103). Three days later the price dropped on the iPad 2 ($74). Now the iPad 2 has a trade in value of $58 and the iPad 3 ($72).
I wonder if Best Buy ups the value of these older iPad's prior to the release of an iPad release? If so, I may wait for the release of the iPad Pro 2.

They gave me $127 for my Air 32GB Wifi only, then added $23 to bring the trade in up to $150. With my BB gift cards that I had, the new 32GB iPad cost me $38.79 out of pocket. Not a bad upgrade, and it fits with my Logitech keyboard that I had
I think the Air 2 will live on for a while with the 2GB of RAM. That's just my opinion. The only real difference between the New iPad and Air 2 that could effect performance is the 9x vs. the 8x CPU. Saying that unless I got an Air 2 for $125 less than the New iPad I would get the new device. If the Air 2 is brand new it may be worth $250.
As a side note, my wife and I were looking to trade in our minivan. KBB had the value of a 2002 Grand Caravan in fair condition with 192,000 miles on it at $32.
We both laughed and gave it to my son.
Yah with Apple pace of architecture innovation in their proccesers the A8X is becoming "dated" much quicker than originally anticipated.

I traded an iPad 3 64GB WiFi over the weekend. It took way too long (over an hour) and the associate had to get help from 3 other managers to make it happen.
I locked-in the $114 value last week knowing the trade-in would be dropping fast. Showed up at the store with the iPad reset and activation lock turned off. Despite showing my email, my offer couldn't be found and the process started over, ending with a $72 trade-in offer. Store manager said the email is just an estimate. I called bs and asked for a different manager since the email literally says the price is good for a week. Then they couldn't find the model number, or enter the serial number correctly, or figure out the color. Finally they somehow gave me someone else's offer and just replaced his info with my info. I walked out with a $114 gift card and a receipt (just in case that got messed up too).
Looking forward to my "new" refurbished iPad Air 2 128GB WiFi being delivered Thursday. I picked a better screen and saving $50 over the one-generation newer processor of the new iPad. It should get at least 3-4 years of iOS updates and still hold decent resale value.

I traded in my kids old iPad 2 for $45 and bought a iPad (2017) 32 GB plus free AppleCare from Best Buy. I like the new unit. It looks and feels just like the iPad Air except webpages don't crash. It's bit bigger then my iPad Air 2 and the screen shows more reflections. The speakers are definitely better and no more reverb. It does feel a bit quicker all around. I'm half tempted to trade in my iPad 2 Air for the same deal. Although Best Buy other is offering $175 which seems a bit low.
