I just purchased a 256GB iPad Pro 12.9 for in store pickup (estimated for this Thursday). I entered in all my Verizon info on BestBuy.com and it's going to be a simple tablet line added to my Verizon Unlimited plan.

Unfortunately, I'll have to pick this up during my lunch break and will have less than an hour. Will the cellular department have to do any sort of activation or will I be able to just pick it up and do the rest myself? Just a little worried due to the time restraint that day. I got this with the $250 off deal for a 2 year contract with Verizon. Thanks!

I also bought an iPad Pro 256GB from Best Buy for use on Verizon. It came with a SIM card taped to the iPad box. I thought that was just fine -- I'll install it at home, etc. I did, but it didn't activate. I ended up calling Verizon, who told me that it was set to activate in 5 days from the day I picked the iPad up from Best Buy. No one could tell me why, and their best advice was to wait the 5 days. I did, and it did activate and worked fine from that point forward.

I got a call back from a Verizon supervisor at one point after-the-fact, and he was also mystified as to why they would do that.

Just sharing my experience should something similar happen.

That's interesting, thanks for sharing. I'll see what mine looks like when I get it.

Did you happen to get the iPad through BestBuy.com after entering in all your Verizon info to add a line as a contract? I'm wondering if they activated the SIM they attached to your box since they couldn't open it beforehand and didn't want to use Apple's integrated SIM. Kinda odd, but I'm glad it worked out for you. I'm assuming this was an in-store pickup vs them shipping it to you?

It was an online (BestBuy.com) order, with in-store pickup. I did enter my Verizon information, and added a new line, as a device payments scenario versus a two-year contract type.
