So, I can't get to a Best Buy when it opens because I have to be somewhere from 9:30 AM to 10:30, but do you guys think if I show up at the Best Buy at 10:30ish they'll still have some in stock? I would much much rather wait in line early but I can't.

Also, if not, do you think if I show up to the Apple Store at around 5 PM they'll still have unclaimed reserved iPads in stock?

Well, Best Buy hasn't been advertising that they'd have them yet. And most folks who would know about it, would either have preordered or reserved one at an Apple store. So you might be in luck - it wouldn't hurt to stop in (keeping in mind that only Best Buy's with a dedicated Apple section are getting any at all).

As for an Apple store after 5, your guess is as good as anyone's. Nobody knows how many extra iPads (over the ones reserved) they are getting, and of course nobody knows how many reservations won't be picked up, or how many people without a reservation will show up at all.

It depends on how many people in your area pre-ordered. I would say that if you get there by 10:30AM you should be ok. Of course it wouldn't hurt if you could get there by say 10:28AM :D Somehow I think most of the fanfare around the ipad has fizzled out. Most people, who really want one, have either already ordered it or are waiting to see how the first hand reviews stack up after about a month or so of use. I just can't see hundreds of people standing outside a Best Buy for this launch. This launch just doesn't seem to have the same zest as previous Apple launches of lots of people wanting to wait outside a store for hours and hours. Plus the pre-order took care of a lot of that also. Could be the economy is also slowing sales at the last minute

You'll probably have better luck at the North Scottsdale store than at the Arrowhead Apple store. Since most people will assume that you have to go to the Apple store to get one, it will probably be most crazy there...plus all the people that made reservations.

As for this not being as "huge" as other Apple launches...what launches? The only ones that I remember ever being crazy are the iPhone launches and those were crazier simply because it was a phone and therefore had much broader appeal, practically everyone has or needs a phone. A lot of people don't quite get the iPad, they don't see the use, or see it as a "toy".

Got my ticket from best buy, it's raining and their shipment was coming around 10am so they are passing them out now. I was #2 for the 16gb wifi. Seems kinda Anti-Climactic compared to the xbox360 and ps3 lines.

Any who I can pick it up before 5pm and they call you when it comes in.
