Yup. April 3rd in coherence with The Apple Retail Stores. Only in Apple Store within a store stores.

Source is a classified email. there are 650 stores that have apple "shops" inside of them. Basically this is a smaller Apple Store without the genius bar etc. Trust me, this is 100 percent real.

Until you have backup evidence....RUMOR!

But you are on MacRUMORS Forum, so I guess it's allowed. But don't come to me when the pitchfork crowd gathers cause you riled up their excitement.

Oh I have evidence, but I cant give it to you. Too big of a risk.

I promise you this is real. I can not disclose any other information because the information is supposed to be classified but this is not a rumor, this is for sure.

Its not really classified. Although, I can vouch for chn09 that the best buys with Apple stores ( roughly 650 ) will have iPads on April 3rd. This news comes from the 4th quarter earnings conference call and shared with all of us in this WSJ article.

As for competing against Wal-Mart, Best Buy argues that its prices are highly competitive with the retail giant, and Chief Executive Brian Dunn and other executives said Thursday the specialty retailer is evolving to stay relevant with consumers. In addition to securing deals to sell hot gadgets like Apple Inc.'s iPad, which will hit many Best Buy stores April 3, the company is testing ways to revamp selling space to better show off the latest gadgets.

The iPad will be in the 673 U.S. Best Buy stores that have Apple stores inside them, but the retailer is not taking pre-orders, Mr. Dunn said. Best Buy has 1,069 U.S. stores under its name, but not all have the Apple shops.

well, i am praying you are right. but doubt it

Gahhhh you all are making me want to post a picture of the email. I have it right in front of me, but can not do such a thing. You all will see soon. But until then, doubt me. Ill be laughing on saturday.

If Best Buy does carry it on launch day there will be commercials and/or print ads and/or ads in the store a couple of days before.

I mean lets think about it. Best Buy wants to SELL items. They are a retail store. Are they going to get a bunch of new products, tell no one, do no advertising and keep them to themselves. Geez. Who ever has them will shout it from the rooftops as soon as Apple lets them and they actually know when they are going to have some.

99% of this is common sense.

Are you sure you want to be bragging about top secret classified corporate secrets on a public forum?

Its a good thing that Ronix was able to find an article about it then.

Are the Apple store best buys the one with the sort of souped-up kiosk, the one with the macbooks, iMacs, Macbook air, etc. on display and the shelf of Apple products? If so... I may wait until ordering and see if I can pick one up on Saturday morning... worth a shot I guess. If Apple produced a million or more of these for launch, I can see Best Buy getting them. After all, the iPhone was carried at both AT&T and Apple Stores, and this seems to be in demand, but not as much as the iPhone.

It will be available at ten that morning.

Regardless if this is true or not, the closest Apple embedded Best Buy is even further away than my closest Apple Store.

If you want to check which ones are around you go to this link, pick you state and in the drop down the locations with the * have embedded Apple Stores.

Still not sure why they are advertising the iPad at all. Very unlike Best Buy.

Apple has a very strict contract with Best Buy. Whatever Apple says, best buy HAS to do.

Just want to give a little insight and my experience with Best Buy and Apple products. When the original iPod Touch or Gen 1 was announced at the Beat Goes On event Sept 2007, I was on the Apple store within minutes after the store went back up to pre-order, the larger 16 GB version. Release day and date came and I actually was able to purchase the iPod touch, albeit only the 8 GB, at Best Buy before I even received the one I pre-ordered. So I have no doubt that Best Buy may receive small numbers of iPad but I will assume that it will be the 16 GB only on release day. Just a hunch.

if Best Buy sell ipad on 4/3, why do we have to pre-order? Fedex sometime deliver very late on Sat. You have to wait for your ipad on Sat while it is in the Fedex truck running around town.

My local best buy is a nightmare. The stock quantities in their system is always wrong. The sales reps never know where anything is shelved, compounded by the fact that they'll do stuff like stock a razer gaming mouse up by the movies. What I'm saying is I'd far sooner do the 2 hour apple store wait then set foot in my local bb.

sorry to hear that. not at my store.

hmm if this is true I might just cancel my pre-order and get it first thing on Saturday at Best Buy. I even have a gift certificate for Best Buy! I wonder if BB will have the cases and other accessories available?
