can anyone on the east coast confirm if Best Buy held stock for today?

The east coast is fairly large. I'll tell you that I have at least 5 BBs "nearby" me and all of them show they have stock.

It's not in the Sunday ads, so I doubt it. The online store checker thing also still has all the stores in my area out of stock.

Best Buy held stocks for last week's promotion, starting on Sunday, but have sold on first-come first-served basis since.

None of the stores in my area on the east coast show any stock of any of the 3 models.

The "old people" :D down here in Florida must not be buying them up. I've been to Best Buy several times since the release, and they have always had them. I was there the day of just to see the hoopla and take a spin on the demo version, and I had about 10 different workers come up to me and ask me if I was interested. The only one I didn't have offered the first time was a 64 GB, but they had that available the other days.

Might be a suggestion to some people that have real nice Grandparents, Parents, or relatives that live someplace like Florida to check and see if there are any and overnight them up to where you are. I'm surprised stock hasn't been pulled from some stores that have extras (like 10 from the store near me) and delivered to another store that has been selling them like hotcakes.

I was quite surprised the first day that they received so much of a stock of them. I think it was at least double, if not triple, the number of iPads total that I thought they would get.

none in my area. Orange County, CA. All the BB's are out of stock and do not know when they will get more. If you ask any sales people they get that pained look on their face - kinda like being asked the same question over and over again, all day long.
:D

i really wanted to get a wi fi version now. But now am re thinking maybe should get a 3G version. Probably a good thing that I waited, can really research the right accessories and model.

I think they haven't shown any stock online because they haven't been selling them online. They'd rather you come into the store than try to place one on hold.

I think the BB staff are all buying them and putting them on Ebay so the Europeans can buy them ;)

Look like the "old people" woke up as they are all gone in Jacksonville at Best Buy. Could be the old people are smarter than YOU and do NOT go to Best Buy and buy theirs at the Apple Store where they have plenty!

Best Buy would be bottom of my list for technology and I am old! Soon you young people will realize that the sales people, also young, are fools and idiots!

wrong. it clearly states that it is in store only and allows you to do a store search. the store search s accurate as I also called and visited several locations in my area to verify.

When the East Orange store only had 64 gb models in stock, it showed up on the website as in stock that location only.

the BB website is accurate and seems to be updated in semi real time.

That's exactly the case. They're offering you an alternative to asking the same question either in store or over then phone. Apple should have done this as well, just as they did with the iPhone.

What does it matter where the "old people" buys theirs? The fact is that down here they have been available down here and available at Best Buy. Do you think you get any special prize for buying at an Apple Store and not a Best Buy? Do you think you get a "better" quality iPad at the Apple Store?

I'm also not sure what you consider "young", but the sales people where I go to down here are from teens to probably 60s. I don't consider many 60+-year-olds "young".

I'm not sure about the stock here in Jax but a friend who works at a Best Buy here said that some guy walked into the store he works at and purchased around 13 iPads. My initial reaction was to state that their should be a limit on how many one person can purchase at a time. He told me that this guy was Russian was going to be taking them home with him.

Why dont you check the Best Buy availability feature of the iPads?

Thats what I did 2 days ago.

The day before I bought my iPad, it was out of stock.

Then the next morning I checked and the best buy near the galleria was showing in bold (which means it was instock) so I drove down there and I waited in line with the other 10 people to buy my 32GB model!

They had 10-15 32GB models and 25 16GB model.

That same night I checked the availability again and all 7 best buys near me was showing out of stock. LOL.

I just checked again for all 7 best buys and its still showing out of stock. Man these iPads are selling like hotcakes! Or rather hotcakes are selling like iPads!!

that all sounds great. I had been checking the BB website religously and no bold addresses popped up when I did the search. Even called locally. Nada. You got lucky and found a BB that got in a shipment and you checked, called visited all within the right time frame.

Just an FYI checking the website is only accurate to a certain extent. Ifnthe current stock on hand is less than 3-5 (not sure which) it will show unavailable online. Also I think that there are no set days that best buys are receiving them they are just getting them randomly
