I think the ipad will be sold at these stores i think it has to be for it to sell. Because a lot of places don't have apple stores and most people won't spend 500+ on something they never seen in person.

I would agree. If it were my decision, I would sell this through their iPod distribution network.

One plausible scenario would be to offer the 3G through AT&T/AT&T authorized agents and offer the Wi-Fi to all iPod retailers.

I certainly hope so. As a Target retiree and participant in their credit card program to earn discounts I can save a substantial bundle buying an iPad at Target with a 10% and 10% discount effectively 19% off. On top of that maybe they will offer a $25 gift card with purchase like they are doing with the iPod Touch this week.

Assuming these stores want to carry it.

I'm sure BB will sell it since they already carry consumer Macs, and ATT will carry the 3G model. However, I'm guessing WM & Target will take a wait and see. They aren't going to want to risk space on an untested consumer device and, frankly, I'm sure Apple doesn't want to gamble on WM & Target employees trying to "sell" it, possibly damaging the brand.

Please...have you seen the Sony E-Book reader display at Target? Not exactly a bestseller.
