I just got off the phone with a best Buy Store manager, he indicated the best way to secure an Ipad for tomorrow is to call the sales department tomorrow at 5:00 sharp and ask that they process your order as "customoer not present" and give them your card data they can then actully sell you an ipad 3g over the phone and you can com in store and pick it up. His suggestion is that you canvas the stores in your area as most will be getting them in stock. He also mentioned that "by" Sunday they expect most stores top begin stocking them not just the ones with Apple reps. P.S. the store manager is my brother in law so I trust the data.

Just wanted the share

Did he happen to mention how many they expect to be getting?

What if they only have 10 in stock and there were 20 people standing in line since 3pm?

I would guess that your brother in law could put on on the side for you so you don't have to call and just go in pick it up when you can. They have them in stock already or will shortly, definitely by 11:00 am

This thing is getting blown way out of proportion. Remember there were only going to be 15 iPads per Best Buy store on the 3rd and that ended up being highly inaccurate.

Don't expect long lines and people camping out for 5:00 PM on Friday.

I expect that anyone will be able to walk into an Apple Store or a Best Buy on Saturday afternoon and walk out with an iPad 3G in 10 minutes.

When they sell on over the phone it will be considered sold, like I said he indicated this would be the best why to get one. As far as stock he said they would get a few (10-15 of each) on Friday and an additional stock Satuerday night to run the Sunday promo, which i believe is a RZ point boost when you purchase an ipad.

Evidently resevering one or "putting one aside" is a fireable offense. They canned an assistant manager a few years ago for putting a Ps3 aside for himself.

What about Wi-Fi models? Not really sure what state you're in but all greater Cleveland, Ohio stores are completely out of stock. Any info would be great, thanks!

Is this RZ point boost just for that location, or do you know if it's a nationwide best buy thing?

I live in colorado and the Best buy closest to me (Colorado Blvd) still has some of the 64 wifi in stock and a handful of others. I believe that they are doing a full front page ad for the Sunday flier so I expect they will be reciving a large shipment Satuerday night of both models. I personally still plan on getting to the store and if I can't pick one up calling other stores, and finally finishing with a round of call to Apple stores on the way home. I have around $300 is RZ points so Best buy is my first stop.

No idea, evidently all this was discussed this morning in the managemnt team meeting. Up until this morning there was no plan at all as far as the managers knew.

Nice! Yeah I can't find a wi-fi model at any of the Cleveland area Best Buys to save my life. Now the front page ad on Sunday will probably be nationwide?

Just talked to the Best Buy here where I'm at in IL. Salesperson said they haven't arrived yet but no current plans to hand out vouchers or anything - more a first-come, first-serve. He did say to check back tomorrow early in the afternoon to see if their process was changing.

I have one being shipped to FL for when I get back, but I might just have to stop and get one early and sell/return the second.

No idea, I just called another store and the answer was "well the plan is still a little up in the air" I asked about vouchers they said "no".

The important news here is about the RZ points and how they apply. If I have to wait till Sunday I would like to know how many points extra I get. Is it double?

No idea, sorry man they only let the managers know from a staffing/security prospetive what was happening, so they could plan accordingly

Well I hope you're right with that info as I've decided to wait till Sunday if I can make some more on the RZs. Check it out if possible and get back to us please. If it's double it could be a madhouse there.

To be safe buy one Firday, wait to open it till Sunday morning, if you can, pending the ad in your area. If you see the promo going on go to best buy the return a repurchase the ipad at the customer service desk. I did that with a Tv once. They are usually happy to accomadte.

I will ask them tomorrow if there is a RZ point promotion for the Sunday and if I buy it before can I get a credit for it the same as if they had a price drop.
They should be accommodating on that.
