Best converter for windows

I use visual hub which works superb but my friend just got ATV and sadly also uses windows. I've been looking around but can't seem to find the best converter. Anyone any ideas?

Would QuickTime pro be his best bet for converting avi files to play on atv?

But you need to know a bit about x264 encoding, because there are a lot of settings^^

Handbrake is an easier way to go.

I agree. Handbrake is the way to go. I have used it on both Mac and PC for years for all of my encoding (for ATV).
