Hello folks,
So I’ve finally decided to upgrade from my 2015 machine. I’ve settled on a 16 inch MBP, 2TB drive, 32 Gigs RAM, and standard pro chip, not the max. Any suggestions other than buying apple direct from the education store (I’m a professor.) if there are better deals on higher specs, that’s fine, but I really can’t go lower than 2TB for the ssd. Any thoughts? Also: planning on buying with 0 percent payments for a year. Again, if there are better deals to be had, I’ll take them. It’s cheaper to buy refurb, but they won’t let you buy at 0 percent on refurb, and you don’t get the gift card. Otherwise I have no problems with refurbed machines.

If you're going to finance, just take what you can get from the EDU store. Any better deals, will be eaten up by interest if you're not able to pay for it all at once.

Yeah, that’s what it’s looking like. This is why it’s so hard to get a non-standard config. I really wish other sellers would do 32G 2T, I think it’s the sweet spot for lots of folks who need a little more than the baseline oomph, but not a 5k$ machine. There was one at micro center, but no discounts, so what’s the point?
