Hi,
I'm wondering what application that are the best one for Facebook messenger?
I really really miss that application

I'm using Trillian - you can download it from App Store and I love it.

I can't be sure about the "best" part of your criteria however you can buy the Chatty app on MAS. It's pretty decent and cheap.

I can vouch for Caprine too

On a side note, can you rename the icons in the dock? I'd like ti to say Facebook Messenger or something instead of Caprine...?
Or can you remove the names completely so you just have icons in the dock?

None. Unecessary applications are a security liabiality on any OS. Instead, use FB through a web browser like Firefox with a good blocker in place that can at least limit the spying involved. Or, even better, refuse to communicate over such big brother protocols.

I would think that you can rename Caprine in the Finder Applications folder and have the new name occur in the Dock.

HyperDock from https://bahoom.com/hyperdock can hide the Dock names. It used to at least, on earlier macOS.

I tried renaming in the applications folder successfully but it still said Caprine in the dock when hovering over it.
I wonder if I should remove it and re-add to the dock.... I'll try that when I get home...

Yea, re-adding Caprine to the Dock after renaming it to e.g "Facebook Messenger" helps. I just tried it myself.

Also, HyperDock still has the option to hide Dock labels (names) but it does also tell the user that HyperDock will install a plugin that might be a security risk to the user. I installed the plugin anyway just now but haven't seen the function actually ... functioning. I'll try and reload the Dock although HyperDock does that when the plugin is finished installing. Edit.. the plugin doesn't do jack here.

You could go the route of installing MacForge (newer mySIMBL but more appreciative of the user spending $$ in the app) and see if you can find a SIMBL plugin that allows for the hiding of the Dock labels. cDock has the option but costs $$ too.

Thanks @allan.nyholm - I won't bother with all that, it's such a minor thing... just thought it'd be nice to rename it to something that makes more sense.... slight OCD perhaps haha.
Appreciate your help though :)
