Hey,

I love to game yet i'm a little low on cash right now, are there any really good free games for the mac that i could play?

I don't mind if the game needs to be downloaded

And i don't care what genre the game is, as long as it is good :)

Thank You! :D

I got a few more to add. Actually, been looking around for some free games ever since OP started this thread, since I been in a gaming mood lately.

Looks really interesting. Recently became freeware. If you watch this vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLfFZ2hYQOw) it looks like a mash of FPS, third person action and MMO. And if you're a Commander, you play in an entirely top-down, RTS view.

Just noticed they recently released an "endless" trial version. Last time I checked it was a timed trial like WOW. So now you can play forever, with limitations.

I've seen the acronym DOTA mentioned a lot before, but never knew what it was. Just found out moments ago. It's a mod of Warcraft III. The mod itself is free, but I'm guessing you'll need W3. Is that right? Can anyone confirm?

Apple's downloads site has a few good games. Most of them are free, whilst there are some avaliable to buy on the Apple Store online.

Heroes of Newerth isn't free but it's really good. DoTA's successor.

I just found out yesterday that League of Legends is coming to Mac this summer. Also a DoTA successor and what seems like the other main game in this subgenre along with Heroes of Newerth. It has even better press/aggregate review scores, more hype, and most of all, it's free. I'm not familiar with either game, beyond a couple rounds in Legends, so I'm excited about both. But based on art direction, I certainly prefer Legends. I love it's visual style and vibrancy. Can't wait to drop into that world regularly, should the learning curve for this type of game not ward me off.

They haven't released an exact release date yet though

Though gaming on the Mac has grown significantly over the years, Windows still dominates the market. The few games that do exist for the Mac are often expensive, and not every wants to or can install BootCamp to play Windows games. With that in mind, we compiled a list of the top 20 free Mac games. The list is by no means comprehensive, but it’s a great start to an awesome gaming experience on one of the best operating systems at no cost. See the games after the jump. Enjoy the Mac gaming!
