I heard pdanet wasn't good. anyone know any better ones that are free?

Pdanet has been working flawlessly for me for tethering my Wifi only iPad to my iPhone 5. Free is a very good price.

You heard wrong. PDAnet is great, I have been using it for years. Like most JB apps, there can be a little bit of downtime when new versions of iOS come out and the new JB is released.

When this new 6.1 JB was released it was a few days before I could use PDAnet wirelessly, but they updated the app for iOS 6 and it's back to normal.

Pdanet free is good for basic web browsing, but doesn't work well for secure connections. You'll need to pay for the full app for secure stuff. I think it's $10 for the full version, which is cheap considering it doesn't use the lazy method of using sprint TETHERING APNs...tisk tisk.
