I got the Smart Cover but it does nothing for the back. I really liked my first iPad's Apple case as it covered both the front and the back. Is there anything out that similar that you guys recommend? Also do you guys recommend going through eBay for Apple Care+ for the iPad or would you recommend going straight to Apple?

Which case are you referencing? The shapeless microfibre one for the first iPad? The Smart Case for the 2/3/4? There's quite a few options, but it depends on what you prefer.

I'm split between the Joy Factory Smartsuit Mini (thick cover, good hand feel due to the cloth, but heavy), the Speck SmartShell with the Smart Cover (minimalistic, removable cover, but slippery), or the Moshi VersaCover (I hate the microfibre front for how easily it stains, but it's very thin, covers most of the iPad, has great stand functionality and hand feel).

Of the three, the VersaCover is the best balanced in terms of weight versus protection, IMO. I like the look of the SmartSuit, but like being able to remove the Smart Cover while using the SmartShell (even if it's one more piece to lose). Given you already have a Smart Cover, you won't lose anything (besides $20-30) if you get a SmartShell or the SwitchEasy CoverBuddy. The SmartShell and Versacover do have the magnet functionality to help keep the cover out if the way.

I believe it was the Microfibre one, it was made specifically by Apple.

There's nothing specifically I'd recommend, but there are soft cases out there... expensive ones. Most of the cheaper cases are TPU or plastic shells (sometimes covered in leather) that you clip the Mini into. The two cases that use the slip-in frame I can think of offhand which aren't are the BookBook and the Sena Envy. That or the Tucano Cornice at $45. But that's leather, not microfibre, as well.

The Logiix Roadster is also leather, but a soft case option. Maybe the Tucano Ala? No folding panels, but it's a soft suede on the outside. The cheapest is the Logiix... and all of the ones I named are $40-50, which cost more than most of what I recommended, except the VersaCover.

How about this one. I got 3 of this case. http://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Lightw...4&sr=8-2&keywords=fintie+ultra+slim+ipad+mini

I have tried so many cases for my mini and settled for this one. It's really ultra slim and for its price you can't beat it. Highly recommended. Check it out. I got the black and orange color.

That's a better option than most of the soft covers I named, but it's nothing like the original iPad case. I'd suggest the Moshi or Speck SmartShell over it, especially since he spent the $40 on a Smart Cover already.

Best full cover case?

You cannot buy AppleCare+ on eBay. It must be purchased from Apple within 30 days.

eBay is selling the old version called just AppleCare. Frankly I don't know if even that would be honored on a new ipad.

DodoCase is the best

I've just received my DodoCase and think it's fantastic. Good, bamboo edging for protection, covers the corners, looks great. You can get 10% off with the code <http://curebit.com/x/Wgrlj>.

And by the way, the cases are a little confusing when you first go to the site. The "Hardcover" cases don't have the bamboo frame, so they're a little lighter and thinner, but they expose all the edges of the iPad Mini to damage. The "Classic" Dodocases have the bamboo cage, and that's the way to go. The remaining options on the website seem mostly about colors, you can save $5-10 if you are happy to have it in black.

Hi viewfly! :)

The old Apple Care can be activated on newer iPads as well. However, the old terms on Apples site still apply:

"You can purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan anytime within the one-year limited warranty period. Your eligibility for coverage under the AppleCare Protection Plan starts from your hardware purchase date." :apple:

Hey Irish Rose!

I didn't know that. So even the old AppleCare is no longer sold, by at least a year plus, it can be resold and used? I guess someone bought a bunch and is selling on eBay.

I've been getting AppleCare+ because Iike the accidental insurance part of it. And the extended warranty. Really helps me and also helps resale.

Thanks!

I've mentioned this on a few other threads but I'll say it again, SwitchEasy makes great cases, and their full cover one is the canvas which I had for my ipad 2 for 2 years and loved it. Good luck
