What is the best game out for MB and MBP so far? just wandering what i should pick up. I have Age of Empires 3..its an ok game. I'm waiting for COD4 to come out for Mac but scared it won't run on my Pro.

im afraid to run boot camp, plus im too cheap to by Microsoft software so....guess ill have to wait for games to come out on mac haha...any body know if COD4 will play on MBP? plus any other good shooters for Mac?

what card do you have? 2600HD and 8600M GT both are jut above the system reqiuirement so you should be fine with them

Well I have to say CoD2 is a really good mac shooter.(and that's about it as far as my knowledge goes, Halo sorta counts but they stopped production on that) You will be fine to run any mac game with your machine however without boot camp you are fairly limited on games.

wait for COD4, unless your booky is over 2 years old you should meet the system reqs. I have thought of trying NWN2...but we will see. Quake Wars is out now. Tomb Raider Anniversary is as well. There is always Guitar Hero 3. Battlefield 2 was awesome, don't know if I can say the same for Battlefield 2142, but I will probably get it someday and try it out. UT3 might come some day as well. If you do get windows installed via boot camp check out TrackMania Nations, very fun, and very free. There is a big update coming to it on April 16th too, updating the graphics and adding a ton of tracks, even though there are a ton of tracks, and the graphics look great already. Maybe I will think of some more to add later. There is always NFS Carbon too...don't know how good that is either. I wish EA would offer us some demos. oh. and save money for Spore in september:apple:

I think the small amount for windows OEM would be easily offset by the cheap and plentiful PC games..

Fable just came out for Mac. I've been waiting a while for it. I should receive it on Monday, so can't say right now if it's awesome, but the reviews on Windows and XBOX are all great.

I have COD2. I'm not a "serious" gamer but it is one game I enjoy picking up and playing ever once and awhile. I didn't know COD4 was coming out for the Mac. What's the news -- will it work on a Core Duo 2.16 GHZ MacBook Pro 256 VRAM? I have the ATI X1600.

Sounds like you've got a Rev A. Me too, except I'd be running it on an iMac at 2 GHz. How much RAM do u have? I have 2 gigs.
I'm also waiting for COD4 mac, and to be honest, I expect I'll have to turn down almost all of the settings... I really wanna support mac development though, despite the fact that we could probably get better performance with the windows version in bootcamp.

Yup, I have a Rev A as well. I also have 2 gigs of ram.. I wish my machine could support more. When I first got my Intel Mac, I was totally amazed at how well COD2 played on it.

I have COD4 on my MBP (specs are in my sig) and it runs just fine. I play multiplayer with friends from work.

Now as far as best game....I dunno. I hate COD4 and pretty much all FPS as I feel the genre is extremely stale. (no flames, just an opinion). I only play them for something to do with friends who love fps.

One game I think is very good and not too old is Portal (part of Orange Box). That is a very clever game.

...I should add I run these all in bootcamp w/ windows xp.

Halo is the best game out by far. It never gets old...i spend so many hours on Death Island lol.
Close second for me is starcraft, even though its super old. Command and conquer 3 is great as well.
But aGE OF emPIRES 3 for mac is dominant. and guitar hero 3.
