I don't know if you bought Golf Card, but is frequently locked up on me. I think it is quite 'buggy'.

I like View Ti, personally, because of the scorecard for 4 players and the accuracy of the maps.

Golfshot is another program that was released recently but I do not plan to buy that.

I've tried a few, and even bought Ti, but I settled on AirVue. Not perfect, but it does the job better and more intuitively than the others I've tried.

How does Airvue look when compared to something like ViewTi? ViewTi is essentially the satellite view from Google Maps.

ViewTi does a good job of giving you the yardages from where you are to the center of the green and to wherever you put the cursor, and, you're right, it essentially does this on Google Maps satellite view. My problem with it is that the fairway view doesn't show the tee box, and it doesn't automatically follow you around. AirVue not only gives you the yardages from where you are to the center of the green, but also to the front and the back, the landing areas (and layup areas), and wherever you put the cursor. It also does this, basically, on google maps. It ALSO follows you around and shows you where you are at any given time (including on the tee box). It also has a handy little feature for measuring shot distances (so you can see if you do, in fact, hit that 5I 180 yards -- turns out, I don't); use it consistently for a couple of rounds and you'll learn your distances very quickly. Neither one of them have a particularly good scorecard, but for what I'm looking for in a range finder/course manager, AirVue does the job pretty well.

Thanks, Mav, for the comparison.

I was looking into the GolfShot GPS app but I may just stick with ViewTi....

This is just about to be released, they have nearly 24,000 courses and have become a pretty big company for Golf GPS. Their application looks like the real deal.I'm going to try the free trial.

i just love it when a noob's first post here is to plug a new app as if they just happened upon it...........so sage right, how bout you give some of us promo codes for the app

Avoid View Ti

Avoid this one! They were originally "View Ti" and advertised no subscriptions, and no fees for updates. Then they changed their business model, and now they do annual "upgrades" you have to pay for! They call them "View Ti 2010", "View Ti 2011", etc. They put nagware in the old version so you can't even use it in peace. You can't even provide feedback on the current app (because you haven't paid for it), so the existing user base can't even express what they think of the app.

In my view this is a loophole that Apple needs to close, you can bring out an upgrade with a slight name change, call it a new App, and escape all reviews etc from your past.

The app itself is not that great, especially given the price. I would recommend you get GolfShot GPS instead, it's a better app all around.

I've tried both ViewTi and GolfShot. Golfshot is by far my favorite. gives yardage to indivudal bunkers, hazards, front middle and back of the greens. plus you can do an aerial shot which gives you a google earth-type picture of the hole. nothing beats it that i've tried yet.
