Now that the ATV 2G is out it seems like all of the focus is on the new product.

Can anyone direct me to the best way to hack an ATV 1G? I see alot of neat tricks & hacks for the new ATV 2g and I'm wondering what my best option is for the original?

Thanks for the response.

Am I missing something? This patchstick seems to only enable you to run Boxee & XBMC.

I'm wondering if there is an Apple TV first gen hack that will allow you to run Boxee, Hulu, play non-iTunes typical movie formats (like .avi & .mkv) and possibly some of the new bells & whistles a jailbroken/hacked ATV2 will do. From what I've read you can surf the internet stream music and do all other sorts of things.

I looked at patchstick.ca which did alot of these things, but they wanted $70 for the program. Are there any free options that will unlock maximum functionality on an ATV 1G or is this only available with the new model?

The patchstick I used allows you to use non- iTunes media, NAS drives and enables the USB port so you can plug in an external HD.

I don't know about Hulu because I live in the UK but why don't you just try it? It's free and if you don't like it you can easily restore it back to the standard software.

Do a google for atvflash

I used it....know some friends who still do. Pretty darn good actually.

Ive just stopped jailbreaking apple products. Fully immersed now in the 'reality distortion' effect apple create, so avoiding 3rd party stuff like this.:D
