Hey community, I'd like to buy an iMac for work, but wonder how they perform while playing WoW? I don't need raiding, just running dungeons and completing quests, nothing demanding.

My other question is are M1 Macs with internal GPUs powerful enough or am I better off buying iMacs with standalone AMD Vega GPUs when it comes to FPS in the game? Any specific recommendations as to which configuration/year might be the best option for me? I was looking into an iMac Pro 2017, but I see in the benchmarks even an Imac Pro 27" 5K 2020 outperforms it by a large margin.

I know M1&M2 options are powerful, but you don't get a screen and they don't have a dedicated GPU just an internal GPU on the processor, which sucks for gaming.

Thanks for any advice.

Classic is "fine" on the 2020 (apart from in the middle of summer), but the non-Classic version lags a bit. I don't have an M1/M2-based machine so can't comment on those.

Currently clearing to Freya, and then it's time to kill your namesake :D

I really wouldn't buy an Intel Mac nowadays... outdated tech and not future proof.
I agree with Spaceboi Scaphandre in recommending the M1 iMac (preferably with 8 GPU cores, and 16GB RAM). The internal GPU does just fine on most games available for macOS. Though I personally haven't played WoW.
But it would be wise to wait for the coming M2 iMac if you can hold out a little bit longer. :)
