Hey all,

What’s the best ipad video player now that ipad is is out? I know that VLC is good, but was wondering if something better was out there.

I like Infuse, it’s ability to grab art and subtitles make it worth the price IMO.

Infuse is my prefered player. :)
Plex is also great but then you also need the Plex Media Server installed on a computer.

I would also try VLC. Infuse needs a monthly subscription and that’s not happening for a video player here.

I like Nplayer a lot. Similar to Infuse and VLC. No subscription, but for some reason there are three versions (Lite, Regular and Plus). Lite is free - I have a Regular, which is a one-time payment. Not sure what Plus is, it seems to do everything the regular version does.

Anyway, I love the option to watch movies directly from the Files app without copying them to the app. VLC also does that, but Nplayer gives you the option to choose if you want to save or play. Also, it looks nice, downloads movie art and opens all kinds of formats.

Agreed. nPlayer Plus!

I even watch movies over my 4g lte or free wireless when out and about through nPlayer!

nPlayer Plus officially supports paid codecs - you need a license when you want to add support of these codecs in your media player. Thats reason why nPlayer Plus is few bucks more expensive than most paid players. I also written a review (warning - from year 2016):

I vote Infuse, but then again I bought it early when it was cheaper and stopped at 4. As long as it's still usable I like it. I also have VLC as well, but I remember prefering Infuse's wifi transfer better so I've stuck with Infuse.

That’s for all the input guys. I’ve actually had good results with the default player. It lags and stutters occasionally, but haven’t seen the need to install another player yet.

Infuse sucks.
1-Pause a Video it does not show the name of the video file. Great, watching TV Series with Season Folders and episodes in each, two finger Tap to Pause, it never shows the title or file name, so HTF you know what episode is playing... Super DUMB!! 2 years requesting after each update this and still they never bothered to implement.

2-Pause uses two fingers, super DUMB, no fingers are the same length, need some twisted finger curling to pause a video, often fails. Other video players have single finger double tap gesture. Again, Request after every update for past 2 years, still ignored.

3-No Recently Played list, since it doesn't display the name of the file when is paused, and since there is no recently played, HTF to know what was last episode played when it never remembers last played video. Super useless.

4-Subtitles, it's too dumb to look in a subs folder inside the video folder, and there's no interface capability to let user choose the folder where the sub file resides and its so god damned dumb that it won't use the sub file if it is not named exactly the same as the video file and or it is not in the same folder as the video folder. Typically, subs files are named eng.srt.

Developers seem uninterested in improve basics, I have little interest in paying $2 for it let alone $59, interest in = interest out.

nPlayer is my favorite after using it, Infuse, & VLC.

Thanks for your reply mate. I installed and tested this nPlayer and does everything I listed above that Infuse doesn’t. I like it, works well...network smb share access is way faster too, nice.

It also has better controls for video and audio - with an open video, select the gear wheel on the left side to open the options.

VLC for me. Don't watch enough non-streaming video to justify using anything that's paid.
