Hi guys,

Photography noob who has been tasked with taking photos of a community running race (taking photos of each person as they come by).
Equipment is an iPhone 12 Pro.

Obviously 'Portait'-style sharp focus on the runner, and slight bokeh would be lovely. But I'm assuming Portait mode won't work on moving targets.

Any tips on how to shoot?

Many thanks!
Xander

Ok get a small tripod. Set the phone up at an angle you like. Connect the Apple EarPods to the phone, open up the camera and click on the volume up button on the EarPods. That will take a picture without you touching the phone reducing the chances of a shaky shot and also you can just focus on timing your shots.

Also consider using the burst mode because when the subject is moving, burst mode can capture different frames and you can choose the best one later.
