I currently have both an iPhone X and an iPhone 8 Plus. Currently the SIM card is inside the 8 Plus because it is believed to be the one with the better battery life.

When the card was in my X, and I’m riding buses and trains for the day my battery would be at 20% by 2pm. This was completely unacceptable. All day I am using my phone for the following various tasks:

-Ordering Uber/Lyft
-Apple Pay
-Mobile bus and train passes displayed on the screen of the phone.
-Remoting into client computers and servers using a bevy of Remote Desktop apps.
-Taking payments using Square and the wireless chip reader
-Taking client calls using both the phone and iPlum phone apps.
-FaceTime with other technicians.
-Using HomeKit to control my home.

And of course on top of all of this, the normal stuff people do on an iPhone like calling, texting and YouTube.

With all of this the X just didn’t last, so it is going in a drawer and the old 8 Plus came back out and stayed since. The 8 Plus would be at 10-20% by 5pm, not great but better than the ten. I don’t even dare try to play a game on my phone for fear of battery anxiety.

That being said, what are your experiences? Should I just sell the X at this point? I was going to keep it put away until IOS 12 comes out to the public and try it again. (I don’t do Betas, this phone is used heavily for work and needs to work reliably.).

What iPhone is best for battery life? What do you guys recommend I do to maximize the battery? Which iPhone should be the one with the better battery??

Aside from your other questions, if you sell the iPhone X now, you’ll probably get more compared to after the new phone release in September, which is when iOS 12 will also be available to the public.

As for maximising your battery life, 8 plus is your best bet with an Anker battery pack, just in case.

The 8 Plus is the undisputed battery champ on its own! Throw it into a battery case and you're good to go for a long time!
