I use DayOne and like it a lot. It has a nice aesthetic and a menubar option for fast entering. Syncing across devices is flawless and you feel like you're using the same app no matter what the device. The aesthetic of the app is nice which is important to me for a journal.

+1 for DayOne. Even though I only input text (no pictures), I look forward to my daily moment with this app.
Another candidate you might want to check is Daily Notes.

Another vote for Day One. I have been using it for about five years and am very satisfied with it. If you are ok with the fact that it stores your journal on their server and that it costs a couple dollars to buy the app with the Mac version being pricey, then give it a shot. I have only good things to report: the developer has great customer support, even build into the iOS app, the apps are beautiful and perform smooth even with many entries. I really like the on-this-day feature that shows you all your entries from this day throughout your journal history. It supports multiple journals, Markup, multiple images including their geo-tag, custom tags for every entry and supports the share-feature in iOS.

Day One user here as well.. Momento has some nice integrations (more than Day One) but when I used it, they had no ability to sync, which was huge. I went all in on Day One and have it on my phone, iPad, and two Macs... its wonderful to have them all on the same page.

I switched from Momento to Day One a while back. It has a nice interface and a good feature set. I feel ripped off because they don't have a discounted upgrade price for going from 1.0 to 2.0 That's another story.

For a low cost solution you can set up Evernote as a journaling tool as well. It can take plain text, store media , links, syncs, etc and potentially be free.
