Hey guys and gals,

i am finaly switching over from a pc to a mac and need to have a good monitor to go with it.

So far the best one i have found is a ViewSonic VX2250WM-LED 22-Inch (21.5-Inch Vis) Widescreen Full HD 1080p LED Monitor with Integrated Stereo Speakers from amazon.

Do you think this would be a good monitor for a mac mini?

What is your price range? Personaly i LOVE my LED Cinema Display 27" but i understand it's too pricy or too shiny for some people. For $399 you can get this great Dell display.

i actually use this monitor with the 2010 mini. it looks nice, stays cool, and screen quality is good. the only minor issue is when it wakes from deep sleep mode, sometimes it displays what looks like analog tv static/snow for a few seconds before it corrects itself to show the os x desktop. it seems to be a common issue with 2010 macbooks and minis that use the nvidia 320m to connect over dvi. possibly due to an hdcp handshake problem. i haven't tested it with the 2011 mini myself, but i haven't seen any complaints online re the issue. so you should be good to go.

I just picked up an HP 2311x on sale at HP.com which had the brightest and best display of all the sub $200 LCD monitors I saw. Very happy with it so far at work in a Windows comp, cant wait to get my Mini this Friday and try it with that.

You didn't define what you're using it for, so I'm assuming it's fairly generic stuff.

I'd settle on 2 choices.

1) If you are really are looking for an IPS panel for those brilliant true to life colors, I'd go for an NEC 23" IPS panel for just under $300 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824002578).

2) If you really don't care about the colors and the viewing angle as much, just get a refurb 24" Dell LED. They sell for $175 and for just a run of the mill monitor they do great.

Since Apple has gone to only glossy/glassy displays I've turned to Dell as they have a wide range of really nice matte IPS displays.

Didn't they just release something not too long ago which will be a large format IPS for like under $500?? I've been pretty happy with my 24" Dell, but next time around I'm definitely going IPS. I just didn't know what to look for the first time around.

Yeah that's THIS ONE

$399 IPS 24"

I found a really great deal on an Acer 23" LED monitor at best buy. $169.00 on sale. HDMI connection, 12,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio, 1080p, .02 millisecond response time.

Works awesome on my base ($599) model mini with 8GB of ram.

60" Sony Bravia flat panel LCD HDTV
(I've got a very loose definition of "best")

I've been using a pair of LG FLatron E2241's from HH Gregg. They're 1080p, IPS, matte/non-glare, have HDMI connections and they're cheap (sub $200). I may not be the most discriminating buyer when it comes to monitors, but I think they look great. They also work perfectly with the new Mini.

Thanks guys,

i think the best one for my price range and preferences will be the ViewSonic VX2250WM,
it is about 22 inches, 1080p, has speakers, and is matte.

Plus the price, you can't beat $149 for all of that.

I'm using the VX2250WM right now on a 2011 - 2.3 Mini and it's bright, beautiful and crystal clear!.....No problem with static from waking, like Indg is having on his 2010.

You won't be disappointed! :D
