Just bought a mac mini. Doesn't look that good on my lcdhdtv but then again the tv is like 4 yrs old. Going to buy a 37''-40'' LED tv for sure. But might get an LED monitor if i decide that i need one other than the tv. Any specific model recommendations on the monitor? Trying to keep the monitor under $180.

I would suggest getting and HP or Acer widescreen monitors. Those will run you $130 - $300 online depending on what size you want, opposed to dumping 1K on an Apple Thunderbolt Display. I'm using an HP 2211x 21.5" monitor for my mini and it works quite nicely. It'll run you $159.99 on HP's website

Ive been using a Dell widescreen with my iMac. Works very well and reliably. Bout 2 years old if I remember right. Connected via miniDisplayport to DVI adapter.

I just picked up an Asus 21.5" widescreen LED monitor for my mini. It has hdmi and built-in speakers and was only $139.

I really wish Apple offered a smaller monitor, 27" is ridiculous for my needs.

Checked out every monitor at BestBuy and the HPs were the brightest and best in my opinion for $200 or less. Ordered an HP 2311x today.... Was on sale at $189.99, but with coupon code SAVE30HP, dropped it to $159.99 with free shipping for a 23" monitor. KICKASS!!!!

sounds good to me - you got a good price

though i have a 25" hp monitor - i'm still windows xp pc but love my monitor

I did a lot of research for a 22-24" matte monitor and found that the best performing one in the ~$300 range is the Dell U2311H. I own it, and have it calibrated with Eye-One Display. The color is perfectly accurate and it's amazing.

You will be happy if you purchase the U2311H.

p.s. Don't worry about LED backlit displays. Their performance in this category isn't better than CCFLs.

I would go with that new Dell Ultra Sharp its a killer display for the price

I just picked up a Samsung 23" LED LCD (S23A550H). I'm pretty happy with it, but I'd really like to see that 25" HP 2509b...
