Best mouse?

My mighty mouse finally broke down after 4 years of use. It's time for a new mouse and I need some ideas. I don't know if I should get an intuos4, I had a small intuos3 and I didn't really like it, didn't give it time though. No magic mouse since I don't like it at all.

Can anyone give me ideas? I mainly use it for illustrator, ID and photoshop and have dual screen if it helps. Price doesn't really matter since it's for "work".

I know there are other threads, but the others are really old, new technology comes out all the time.

I love the Microsoft mice, with scroll wheel and dual side buttons, like the 5000, I have it set to zoom in or out on the scroll wheel, pan l/r on the side buttons, etc, plus you got primary and secondary mouse clicks on both finger buttons.

Magic mouse is taking me time but I am getting there, I find I use both sometimes, silly yeah I know.

Re the intuos, Im like you, I got a 3 wide, and I liked it, but I found I was faster with the mouse in one hand and keyboard and shortcuts in the other. Once I put the intuos down and moved to the mouse, I never went back to the intuos.

As a heads up watch out for the Microsoft mice to be sure they are compatible with Macs, I just picked up a Wireless 8000 in Alu, for a ton and it only connects in bluetooth with its dongle, which is a bugger on a laptop.

Give the Wacom another shot

You have to force yourself to use the Wacom tablets for a while because they are so different from mice, but I bet that you'll never go back to mice again after that.

I'm a Sr. Art Director and do most of my work in Photoshop and Illustrator. Pretty much everyone I work with also uses tablets also. You just can't achieve the same level of control with a mouse as you can with a tablet. Forget about the buttons and all the other gadgety stuff. You need to get good with keyboard shortcuts and just feeling out where the pen will move the cursor to. NEVER use the tablet in mouse mode; only Pen mode.

A mouse can only take you so far. Pens are industry standards and despite the learning curve, they offer far more room to grow.

I love my Logitech MX1100R.
That and a good "pro" mousepad and you are all set.

I do design and I think the mouse is very nice and precise.
But incase I do need to draw something, I have my wacom. No Intuos but older one..just fine for my rare need to draw something.

But if you draw a lot, then I suggest to get used to the whole 'using only wacom' for everything. If not, don't bother..It's not easy to get used to, at least not for me. It's ok, but not everyday use..

I've had my eye on a Logitech MX Revolution for some time now. It's a great mouse and the charging stand is quite useful as well!

NEVER use the tablet in mouse mode; only Pen mode.

I might be the only person to feel this way, but I like the Wacom Intuos tablet mouse. It's the only tool I've found that doesn't cause me to get hand cramps. But I work mostly in InDesign. I use the pen in Photoshop. (I'm left-handed and can't use most of the ergonomic mice designed for righties.)

Maybe I'll give the pen a try. I don't really "draw" for the stuff I do, so I never use the pen and use the mouse only.

I had a MX, used it for a few days and gave it to my co-worker. Didn't like it on my Mac.
