It really depends on what you are trying to do. For doing some simple recording I like the fourtrack app. It works great. I also like the GrooveMaker app on the iphone too. It is loop based and I've used it several times to help me make quick tracks on the fly at parties.

[app]Beatmaker[/app] is a favorite, as is [app]Xewton Music Studio[/app].

[app]Guitar Tool Kit[/app] is great for guitarists.

Some others that I just recently downloaded but haven't completely figured out yet are [app]Touch DJ[/app], [app]JR Hexatone[/app], and [app]Noise.io Pro[/app]. Actually Touch DJ may be just a teensy weensy bit over my head, since I can hear whether two tracks mesh together well or not, but if I manage to get them matched, it was entirely accidental. Anyways, they all seem like quality apps.

Been tempted by Touch DJ but the inability to access the iTunes library effectively rules it out for me, as my 16GB iPhone has only about 200MB space left. I'm not reloading and duplicating music. Noise.io is great but JR Hexatone is proving a handful to fully get to grips with.

have you given Touch DJ out? just wondering ......

i bought touch DJ, its pretty awesome. i uploaded a couple of my tracks. it totally needs a BPM count and to play from CUE point, there is a slight lag. it doesnt hit right on spot. these are my only 2 gripe about this app. otherwise its a pretty powerful most intuitive DJ mixing app out there for the iphone.
