Hi,

I bounce back and forth b/w Android and iOS and am thinking of trying the Galaxy S20. With that being said is there a recomended non iMessage texting application that could be used on the iPad.

In the past I‘ve used Verizon Messages on the iPad but was hoping there was something out there that was a little better than that since it‘s functional but very basic. From doing a bit of digging there is androidmessages.com and potentially Google Hangouts but I’m not 100% familiar with them.

Thanks

From the looks of it Telegram and a few others are great for people that have the app installed but not for direct SMS messaging.

That’s what I’m looking for and why I used Verizon Messages+ in the past even though it’s not the best program out there. It mostly just worked.

With most of these apps, you can invite people to install the app directly from within the app. I am hoping people will install the app if you request them to.

Sign up for free Google Voice standard area code + prefix # then sign into Hangouts and Hangouts Dialer. It's a replacement calling plan, SMS/MMS and voicemail that works over WIFI without having to pay for mobile service plan. Works cross-platform plus from PC browser. Totally free to and from US.

I'm using Android Messages and just relying on the web service for it via Safari. It works fine for me because I have no need for notifications on my iPad - I get that on my Garmin watch (Verizon VivoActive 3).

So texting via web browser through Android Messages works well on iPad just as it does on most any other web browser. I'm able to paste in images and do emoji or GIF just fine with it.

I'm on Verizon but don't like their messaging app. I much prefer the dark them and look/feel of Android Messages and love having the web access to my texts. I run a client app on windows at work so that I can just send/receive texts from my workstation without the need to pull my phone out.
