I'm a software developer.

For some reason I have never make the connection with insomnia and lack of focus with the ambient noise, until the neighbors move and left my house alone. Suddenly, I sleep way better, can weak up in the morning and all the bliss.

UNTIL

the pandemic have bring everybody in the block. Too much noise now.

Now I'm in the look for the best way to have the noise out. So i can program for as much time I could with as silent as possible.

Is for work from home, not care about the quality of the music (but yes for microphone calls if is available).

Is my understanding I can use AirPods Pro without any music just to cancel noise? (noise: talk in the distance, loud music from others, etc...)

What other option can I consider that give me the same experience? My budget is thick now and AirPods are kinda expensive to me.

Active noise cancelation not bring headaches for constant use?

You can use the AirPods with just ANC. But don’t expect complete utter silence.
The AirPods ANC work well with consistent noises. You can still hear your neighbor have crazy loud sex. ?

Hi mamcx,

I'll suggest the Earos One to you:

Earos One Acoustic Filters (Amazon)

Earos One home

Best,

According to what I read in the amazon reviews, this is for concert or musicians, not that helpful for the office?

I had construction next door and experimented with many solutions. If you still want to be able to listen to music, podcasts, etc. These are your options for finding bliss again.

The ultra-pricey solution (ridiculous, but wonderful): Bose noise-cancelling over-the-ear headphones, worn overtop in-ear noise-cancelling headphones. I know, I know.

The budget solution: Foam earplugs worn with bone-conduction earphones like the Trekz Titanium.

Listen to music is not a requirement. Just be as quiet as possible.

Look like noise-cancelling headphones can work without music, yet the canceling on? How is for office environments?

The Earos are not just for musicians. From the Earos site:

Whether you're attending a loud concert or trying to focus while working from home, stay safe in sound with EAROS ONE.

Apologies if my suggestion was way off mark, mamcx!

(Perhaps Mack's Earplugs?)

Best to you in your search,
KM

I don't think the Earos are what you want, they are for hearing protection while preserving fidelity like at concerts, you will still be listening to your neighbors, just at a slightly lower volume.

If you what you want is pure peace and quiet, nothing will achieve better isolation than solid foam earplugs.

Another somewhat Hilarious but could work well solution is buying a lot of pillows. I mean, like those big pillows looking like a bean. Fill those pillows inside your working room. They should absorb the sound pretty well.

AirPods Pro ANC is amazing for whatever it can achieve in that size. But it won’t work wonders. Apple has 14-day return so you can try it out a bit, but personally I am not super impressed.
