Hello guys I want to upgrade my MBP mild 2014 just because it feels laggy and I am starting using Lightroom and want to use final cut soon, so the question here is

wich is the best way to save money for the new 2018 in your experience ?

I am thinking go for educational store but I also I want to save the taxes to buy the apple care and try to get the beats solo for free, but I think that is not going to happen I guess.

I don't know if you recommend wait for a refurbished, wait for Adorama o bhphoto to sell it, wait for a promo until Black Friday.

I would like to read your advice on this journey, thank you so much.

Break it down in a spreadsheet application based on store.

Store | MBP Price | Apple Care | Taxes | Discounts | Beats Sell (estimate 20% lower than the lowest recently sold listing on ebay) | Grand Total.

Example Stores: Apple (your location), Apple EDU, B&H, etc.

If you live in the US (or planning to visit the US -- your location is Mexico, so not sure), maybe you're close enough to a state or planning on visiting a state that doesn't charge sales tax.

Yes I am planning go to Texas anytime, but the last time I visit an apple store in San Antonio its supposed to be a free sales tax weekend like in august and the apple store didn't remove it.

Doing like you said a spreadsheet its good option, macrumors has it but I am looking something deeper, some nice trick to save money.

The free sales tax weekend does not apply to all items. Many items are excluded which is why you were charged the sales tax while in San Antonio. Also, I'm not at all certain that stores like B&H would ship to Mexico. You would have to ask their sales department.

Consider upgrading the Beats to the Studio3 model by paying the difference. It's worth it for sure if you're keeping them and if you sell them, you might make more since they are more desirable IMO.

Also, don't forget to factor in shipping. Apple has next day for $8. Last I ordered from B&H, it was $102 for next day shipping on a few small items. Nothing against them, just another factor in cost if you're needing it quickly.
