I currently have a MacBook Air from 2011 with these specs:
- Intel Core i5 1,6GHz
- 2GB of RAM (soldered)
- 64GB SSD

I'm currently dualbooting Mavericks and High Sierra. I wonder what is the best os for this Mac. (Linux alternatives are also accepted)

I run Sierra on mine personally, though it can certainly tend to drag a bit. I ran El Cap on it for years until I needed some HS-or-better software.

My 2010 11" MacBook Air runs El Capitan and I quite like it. It's certainly fast enough given its specs, especially if you don't need to run any specific software which needs High Sierra or better. There's lots of pretty good web browser and basic productivity options for 10.11.
